I can never catch a break

Anyone know when the first forfeit stage is?
There’s no Kauto Star in this so he can be ridden within his capabilities which is a damn sight faster than most of these can go.
Can’t see anything good enough to get near him to be honest and think he’s really something to bet on.
Ellerslie George will give him a run for his money. George will keep driving himself infront until he’s there… aint no compromise from that horse.
Character Building seems to be a forgotten horse. He’s nicely handicapped and won very well at Cheltenham a couple of runs ago. 33/1 is a steal
A steal for the bookies yes, as his trainer has said he goes straight to Cheltenham
Must have missed that

Well According to Pete has been withdrawn, so it’s back to the drawing board for me.
No reason behind his withdrawal as of yet…
He’s on the heavy ground he loves… but so does Black Apalachi and Preists Leap…
This could go any way.
Quite frankly any horse sired by Old Vic will have a chance. The last 3 Becher Chase winners (all entered) were sired by him and of course so was Comply Or Die… among other great horses…
I’m looking forward to seeing Snoopy Loopy run again
According to Pete would be my pick, but L’Aventure interests me too
my sister lives abroad but wants to put bets online, she was asking about seven is my number, i don’t really know much about the horse, can anyone provide me with info on form, distances he’s used to? ground etc
vf
Seven is My Number has won 5 chases this season ranging from 2 miles to 3 miles 1. In that 3 miler he beat the likes of Beat the Boys and Tatenen, so it was by no means an easy race, but not the most competative considering there were only 5 runners. He was only 7 lengths behind The Last Derby in the 3 mile United House Gold Cup, so he should be able to stay at least until Bechers 2nd time round. A real confidence booster is that he has never fallen, so we know he can jump round. He did however pull up on his last outing in the 2 mile 5 Betfair Trophy Chase, so maybe the 3 mile+ scene is what he wants.
His last two wins were on soft ground, but they were only fields of 2 and 5. His other wins were on goog, good to firm, but those wins were over 2 miles – 2 miles 5. So he seems to handle all grounds.
He’s carrying 10-13 so he has a handy enough weight, but he’s only 8 years old.
All in all he’s not without a chance, but i’d look elsewhere myself…
1) Top 2 finish in that seasons Midlands National (1997)
2) Ran in a English National
(1989, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007,)3) Irish National (1995, 1999, 2000, 2006)
4) Welsh National (1988, 1992, 1994,1998, 2002)
5) Irish Trained Never out of top 10 all season LTO ran over hurdles 20f or less (2000, 1999, 2003, 2005, 2006)
6) Top 4 Cheltenham Festival finish (1990, 1991, 1996)
7) Won That Seasons Eider (2008)
Had at least 3 National Top 10 Placings(1989,1990,1991 1992,1993 Void 1994,1995,1996 1997,1998,1999,2000,2002,2003,2005 2006,2007)
You seem to have missed a couple…
In the horses that have ran in a Grand National before; you’ve missed out Royal Athlete and Mon Mome
At 3 and 4 are you loking at winners or who have ran in it? Even so you missed out Silver Birch in the Welsh National…
And why no mention of the Scottish National? If i could only use one other National to base my selections on it would be the one that has a distance close to the Grand National itself…?
I’m looking at the 80 region, but only because i’m hoping for Silver Birch, Cerium and Palypso De Creek to get entries…
Grrr there am I thinking I’m being all clever by finding Hello Bud, then I come on here and find every man and his dog has picked him too.
I would hardly call picking the most recent Scottish National winner a "find"… more of an obvious choice really.
I’ve been thinking as hard as i can about Preists Leap. I had his last year and he impressed me; even on ground he wouldn’t prefer. 11st might be a bit much, but i’ve decided he’s gonna be on my shortlist too…
Black Apalachi
Ellerslie George
Hello Bud
Preists LeapMy shortlist thus far… that’s right i’m gonna add to it!
Okay Peter, you know this has to be done – we are heading for the one!
Chuck those that haven’t won a 25k chase.
Chuck Silver Birch because he is 13yo.
Chuck Ollie Magern, if he ain’t already chucked, because he is Ollie Magern.Left with two.
Chuck Irish Raptor, because he supposedly doesn’t stay.
Only horse left standing is Hello Bud.
I was actually thinking of the Aintree Factor as 9 of the last 16 winners had raced over the Aintree fences before winning (7 in the last decade) which would leave us with…
Ollie Magern
Chelsea Harbour
Hello Bud
Irish Raptor
Silver BirchI’ve noted that i don’t think Irish Raptor will stay, Silver Birch is 13 and long in the tooth, Ollie Magern has only jumped one Aintree fence and Chelsea Harbour looks a doubtful stayer…
Which again leaves us with Hello Bud, so right now i have two certain bets…
Black Apalachi
Hello BudAnd when you take that list and take out the horses with 11 stone or more on their backs you have…
Ollie Magern
Silver Birch
Gone To Lunch
Ballyfitz
Chelsea Harbour
Razor Royale
Hello Bud
Irish Raptor
Seven Is My NumberThat’s a good list. I know last year showed that the weight doesn’t mean EVERYTHING considering the first 4 home were all carrying 11 or more, but i figured i’d just see what we’d have…
There can be only one winner surely?
Keeping in mind there are gonna be 5 inductees…
Rummy is a dead cert for sure.
February 16, 2010 at 12:08 in reply to: Other than Red Rum, who was the best National Winner? #277101No love for Earth Summit? The only horse to complete the three of a kind? Scottish, Welsh and English National victories make him one of the all tiem great National winners for me. Sure 98 was hardly a blue ribbon National, but it was still a great race and a gutsy performance by all.
