As regards the improvement in form Blacklion had been gelded since his last run in October and this was his first run in a handicap . It was Nicola Currie ‘s only scheduled ride at the meeting . Would she still have received her riding fee , full or part ?

Johnson and Hunt are alike because they never mention the jockeys’ colours when calling a race , possibly to disguise the fact that they may be calling the wrong horse .The commentaries are therefore dull and uninformative .

I usually turn the volume down , especially if Johnson, with his overpowering voice , is the commentator .

Trainer Stuart Williams suggested on Luck on Sunday that in the future female jockeys would have far more rides . Male riders are struggling with the weights ( partly because of the removal of saunas ) and raising the weights would mean than the problem would be transferred to a heavier group of jockeys .
At present female riders commonly can make 8-2 . Saffie Osbourne can ride at 7-13 .

For off course punters maybe but not for people paying to enter the meeting . As I said it should be the seventh ( and last ) race on the card .

The Racing Post has a headline announcing Hollie Doyle’s ride in the Oaks .

However the name is hidden behind the paywall . Which horse is she riding ? Thanks .

I recall the race being run at Bath . The horse was long odds-on in a maiden or condition race . I think he said “Oh Joe Oh Joe“ and then there was silence ,thereby showing total respect for Mercer . I remember the tact with which O’Sullivan handled the incident as much as anything .
