I quite like him and he’s a good analyst with nice touch of humour but doesn’t he just Absolutely go on about absolute Mark Johnston absolutely?
And doesn’t he Absolutely use Absolutely or Absolute in every sentence Absolutely all the Absolute ****** time, Absolutely?
Perhaps not as irritating as Mccoys “so you do” or whatever it is but it Absolutely like tinnitus
May 13, 2021 at 14:09 #1540633He loves the old “absolutely battle hardened, tough as teak” Mark Johnston cliches. Boils my piss too, so it does.

May 13, 2021 at 14:53 #1540653so it does… thats it. Absolutely does my head in
Yes that Johnson cliche too.
Absolutely
May 13, 2021 at 14:54 #1540654So it does is an Irish thing, especially Northern Irish. Plenty of people there say it or something similar.
May 13, 2021 at 14:56 #1540655Its various mate. “He’s a hard worker, so he is”. “Its a good race , so it is”. “Its absolutely annoying, so it is”.
Since we are on the topic, Cumani’s answer of “it / he / she sure is” ABSOLUTELY annoys me no end, SO IT DOES.
I know CAS, but I can’t see ITV having some yorky spouting “Well I’ll go to our house, youth, he’s won reet easy”.

May 13, 2021 at 15:13 #1540664I have relatives from Northern Ireland. Maybe my ear is more accustomed to it.
Over on RTV, Martin Dixon often says “If I’m being honest”, which does rather bug me.
May 13, 2021 at 15:28 #1540674I’m with Tatling. Quite why “so it does” is ok (I find extremely irritating) but “know wot I mean” or “innit” isn’t needs explaining
May 16, 2021 at 08:51 #1541198Weaver is ridden with verbal ticks and pads out his comments with the same cliches :
‘Up on the front end’
‘On this particular occaision’
‘Up at the highest level’
‘Up over the line’He also does a tiresome line in trying to tease Cumani with some old school flavoured sexist sounding put downs when she tries to engage with him.
He’s not the worst ( Mulrennan,Green and Mayor take that prize) but like the rest of the ITV team he’s become complacent and lazy. Time for a change .
‘May 16, 2021 at 08:59 #1541199I have a feeling we’d all find faults with whoever was doing the job
Not fussed either way but I think Weaver has plenty of positives and one of the better onesGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 16, 2021 at 09:20 #1541204“Indivdual” such as well grown individual, stunning idividual, eyecatching individual.
All the presenters are fond of this.May 16, 2021 at 11:37 #1541219I have also noticed Weaver’s put downs to Cumani but assumed it is just because he is increasing finding her banal and often inaccurate utterings tiresome (as am I). Never occurred to me that there was anything sexist about it.
May 16, 2021 at 12:10 #1541223Don’t be silly, Tonge, if you put down a woman you’re automatically sexist (mysogynistic, even) same as if you put down a non-Caucasian you’re racist, and/or a homophobe if they are part of the LBGT community.
It couldn’t possibly be because you simply think they’re an idiot (who happens to be female and/or non white or LBGT).
Welcome to Woke Planet Earth 2021.
Plenty of intelligent female, non-white, LGBT people out there btw – sad I should need to even state the obvious with that caveat tbh, but that is the world we now live in.

May 16, 2021 at 17:39 #1541279Agree with Nathan in that I suspect fault would be found with whoever was presenting. Also it’s not as if the presenters of times past didn’t all have their own verbal quirks and stock phrases.
May 16, 2021 at 19:48 #1541291These days, if you say you’re English you get arrested and thrown in jail.
May 16, 2021 at 22:30 #1541299Youre right..Cumani is banal and adds very very little to the coverage but ( I’m a bloke btw) there is a way of reflecting your annoyance or exchanging views with her ( as there is with anyone, male, female, white, non white, able or disabled) that isn’t sexist ( or discriminatory in the other examples) and in the case of avoiding being sexist its not treating her any differently to how you would a man.Simple.
Weaver tends to make remarks to her that he 100% wouldn’t make to a male member of the team.
As for Daily Mailers on here ( or elsewhere) who automatically try to stifle any discussion that calls out sexism ,racism and discrimination as ‘political correctness gone mad’etc rather than trying to understand where the offence has been caused or what those issues are about, I’m afraid they need to work out where their discomfiture is rooted or I’m afraid they are the bystanders to or worse the enablers of behaviour that has rightly become unacceptable.
Male white privilege is a real thing and once you understand it the world makes much more sense.May 16, 2021 at 22:32 #1541300I’ve not noticed any sexism. Do you have any examples to hoy up?
