To all the critics of the clerk of the course at Doncaster about his watering policy, they should all be eating large portions of humble pie this morning

I wouldn’t agree with that, it should have been good to firm or faster all week.
I would agree with Mark Johnston though who said of the clerk of the course, "He seems to be a very nice chap but he simply doesn’t know what good flat racing ground is".
Forget what mark Johnson says. Can you Yeats tell us why the ground should have been good / firm or firm ???? This is not America.
Perhaps you wanted firm ground for a horse you like, but that would not be a sensible reason why the ground should be firm for all the other horses.

September 16, 2012 at 12:25 in reply to: Time to stop referring to the Irish Leger as a ‘Classic’ #413401It depends if the definition of a classic race is a group 1 for 3 year olds only. Or a group 1 with a long standing history, after all the Irish St. Ledger is only 97 years old.
Lke 99% of group 1 races i have no betting interest in it. However a real joy to watch, a very interesting comparison in horses. The logic says Farhh but when considering the ability of the grade where the horses are very special just to turn up, it then becomes not a straight foreword decision.
September 15, 2012 at 15:20 in reply to: The official "shocking ride from Joseph O’Brien" thread #413242Regardless of the result, "switching inside out of the turn entering the home straight" was dangerous. All i was thinking was OMG, a shame it happened like this, I really didn’t want to see it.
It didn’t look good early on.
Yes on Monday a good day to buy shares in electrical equipment no doubt.
If there is a strong head wind for tomorrows St. Ledger, will Joseph act as an air brake?
Failed at stud due to fertility problems. Cool more don’t keep trash. Come back run was over a bog, when majority of note worthy form was over good to firm. If the horse (colt or gelding now?) ,needs decent to firmish ground, there has been limited opportunity over this summer, but an unlikely reason as to the no show during the season. Certainly in my opinion a prep race at best, as forecasted soft ground.
I have an abstract theory as to why the times are fast.
The all weather has been down to a minimum until recently, the general quality of horses are better this time of year, not to mention that the majority of the results that you have used to compile your standard times are run over a course in the colder months. Therefore an additional variable is unknowingly incorporated into the equation.
Just a thought.
Common someone must know something
We prefer good ground in this country.
I must say how beautiful the straight course is, like a gold green.
My mistake , Race form interactive doesn’t go back far enough! Thats why it said 208. Sorry

Can’t help but agree, "living hell" is extreme.

He’s brilliant, an all weather pioneer. A real poly track veteran. He’s only a couple of years short of being a living breathing Equitrack fossil. If they make a Dvinsky hat I will buy one.
Please make a Dvinsky hat.
Also a fantastic ad for owners with regard to value for money and fun.
Is is not 208 not out?
Personally I think she is very good, she appeals to the public, and to most punters. Assertive, formed up, a racing family back ground, and no OTT business.Shame she isn’t full time on RUK, Clare Balding is excellent for racing.
September 12, 2012 at 11:05 in reply to: RSPCA mood ahead of Grand National changes announcement #412876Boxing is as safe as anything. I would have thought as a punter you would understand that in life, no matter what we do we take a risk. If you want to go to the shops you have drive , you take a risk. If your light bulb blows, you change it, and take a risk. Albeit these are examples of small mandatory risks we all face every day. You can’t rap everything up in cotton wool, its real life.
I don’t understand, that if one does not like a spectacle , why watch it? Why moan about it? Don’t watch it then.
