Manduro looked a serious horse at Royal Ascot. Jockey Staphane Pasquier gets on really well with him and trainer Andre Fabre rates him highly and says the horse is still improving and is convinced he will stay a mile and a half..
If he gets his favoured fast ground for the King George & Queen Elizabeth in three weeks time, I reckon he will give them all something to think about.

George ran a fine race, but I fear his temperament tends to get the better of him these days, and I think (though I may be wrong) he will find it difficult to replicate the brilliance he showed in last year’s 2000 Guineas and QE11.

Great race and what an inspired ride by Ryan Moore – a thoroughly deserved victory by Notnowcato.
The Eclipse has often proved to be the graveyard for Derby winners. Authorized’s connections should not be too down hearted – though history suggests that he will find it equally difficult to win the King George & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes after such a hard race – and especially after being defeated.
It is no coincidence that only two Derby winners have both gone on to win the Eclipse and King George & Queen Elizabeth in the last thirty six years – ’71 and ’89.
