I personnaly don’t have a problem with the team tactics employed by Ballydoyle. What is the problem with ensuring a properlly run race? This generally allows for a full test of the horses involved.
Flat for me is Mrs. Bolgers colours carried by teofilo and new approach(pre-Mrs. Mohammed)
Jumps I’ll have to go for JP Mcmanus
Curlin has demolished everything in his past over the last year. If he can make the transition from dirt to turf then surely he’s a massive favourite.
16/1 is massive if you ask me, the Stephen Forster was a handicap…he turned it into a cakewalk giving at least 10lb to everything. If there was a horse over here doing that on teh turf he would be 1/2 or less for the Arc. Again it all depends on the dirt/turf transition…I look forward to the Man O’ War with baited breath.
I think the boys in blue and SM are reeling a bit, they have had a few bad seasons lately and they are trying to re-establish themselves as a major force. Godolphin have a few good 3yo’s this season in Ibn Khaldun, Fast Company, Rio De La Plata, Il Waard and McCartney and possibly they are gonna spread them out over Europe and try to win as many big races as possible.
Looks like they will run IK and FC in the guineas along with NA(Princess of Jordan, but under the darley banner in some shape or form). After that i think they will go their different ways…if NA does run in the irish classics, dont expect any of the others to be there – especailly if he wins the gunieas.
I thiink he should be retired He’s not good enough over middle distances and dosen’t seem to have it in him anymore for cup trips.
Intresting that Sir Percy done sweet FA after the derby.
I agree it was poor, excluding Dylan Thomas, but what excitement – 4 way blanket finish, heart stopper.
I actually backed Sir Percy that day and I’ve got to admit lucky or not its the best feeling I’ve had winning a race. For excitement its been the best derby for a while.
like i said, very informative – cheers MD. Never knew the Princess associated with the SM.
I had plans to back Fast Company considering he didn’t lose by much to New Approach in the dewhurst, even with a bad break but the boys in blue aren’t making very good noises. NA is defo the one to beat.
Some one mentioned not getting excited about NA because Teofilos demise last season. Imagine the Derby we would have had with Authorized, Teofilo and Holy Roman Emperor?
