It was in the magazine part of the Independent on Saturday. He basically said he that he didnt want plans for a waste treatment plant to be approved,I think they said it was 3 km from Ballydoyle. The part about Fallon was only a small part of the feature so you probably read all that was printed in the rp,the focus was definitely on his opposition to the treatment plant…

I don’t buy the Independent btw I just saw the article ;)

I always thought it was just the turn into the straight of the hurdles and flat track which caused crowding at Leopardstown

…such as running a maiden winner in the Irish Derby on its next start…

True,I can’t disagree with that, and something simliar could have been said of Bob’s Pride who was hockeyed in the 2000 guineas a cpl of years back also. His strike rate at the Curragh was shocking last year, in and around 2% from what I remember  ! His record at the smaller tracks and at Leopardstown was a lot better though, so the fact he still broke the 1million mark when his top earner didn’t even win a race suggests that he had some sense of the racing calender

I think Weld is perhaps more realistic about the ability of his horses than some members of the racing community appear to be.I get the distinct impression from listening to his interviews and looking at how he has been campaigning and targeting his horses over the last cuple of years that he doesn’t always aim higher than necessary.Saying that he does seem to have a better crop of flat horses this year than previously so maybe that trend will change a little,on the flat at least

I’d still respect the horse and wouldn’t completely write him off yet,he’s a good mover and obviously has a level of ability,I struggle to see him as an investment at this stage though, either tomorrow or at Cheltenham.
Whatever Geraghty says about being the moral victor of the Royal Bond, they still wet the bed at the last, even at that it could still be debatable whether he would have outbattled Muirhead had he hurdled it cleaner.
Maybe it can be written off as inexperience but Leopardstown wasn’t exactly a postive progression. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on this year and whether he will be sent chasing at some stage in his career
