    One for today

    3.40 Exeter – Triggerman @ 9/2

Third around this time last year in the rescheduled Welsh National off a mark of 130, he’ll take some beating tomorrow off a mark of 122 with the capable Thomas Cheesman claiming a further 10lbs. Prone to the odd error, if his jumping holds together. He looks the likely winner.

    -1.00

Two who’ve caught my eye for the Triumph are Abbysial & Plinth. Although Mullins suggested that Abbysial may take different route. Plinth won a very hot maiden beating the well touted Mullins hot-pot Ivan Grozny. Both can be backed @ 25/1 & larger on the exchanges

The Betfred Goals Galore Novices’ Chase developed into the expected match between odds-on Black Thunder and Corrin Wood, but it was the springheeled jumping of the latter that proved the trump card as the pair played their hands in the final mile.

Corrin Wood consistently outjumped his rival at the fences down the back and Jason Maguire kept the former point-to-pointer right up to his work to prevail by two and a half lengths, with the others beaten 34 lengths and more.

He was given a quote of 16-1 for the RSA Chase by Betfred, and Donald McCain said: "He’d been very impressive but we didn’t know quite how good he was. If he’d come here and finished second or third we might have looked at the four-miler, but he’ll definitely get an entry for the RSA now."

A walk in the park, should Cue Card take the Ryanair route. Will never get the Gold Cup trip in a month of Sundays and a complete waste of time him even bothering.

I’m on Fox Appeal @ 25/1 for the Arkle and if he puts in a good show on Saturday in the Clarence house that’ll be long gone. If this was a Henderson, Mullins or Nicholls horse he’d be half the price.

Time for Rupert, is another i would have a small wager on should he line up. Spent most of his career contesting G1 & 2 races. He’s a huge danger off 143 if he can get back to anywhere near his best.

Excellent write up & i’d have to agree with you regarding Trustan Times. Always felt there’s a decent chaser there waiting to pop out & is on a lenient mark, considering he won the 2012 Haydock fixed brush hurdle off a mark of 142 & has been allotted a very generous mark of 139 over fences.

Two runners that interest me today.

    12.15 Ling – Prince of Burma @ 7/2

All six runs over C&D have been off higher marks than his current 65. Has won here off 81 & been second three times off marks of 78, 75 & 75 respectively. To say he’s well in is an understatement!

    3.30 Plump – Kind of Easy @ 9/1

Was a comfortable winner off this mark(114)over fences and his second behind Golden Chieftain reads well(who went on to win by 6l in a hcap hurdle off 129). Emma Lavelle has a good strike rate here & also on the occasions she teams up with Fehily.

Best of luck to all who play!

2.50 Kelso – BARNEVELDER is a speculative choice as i feel he’s far too big a price at 16/1(may trade bigger on the exchanges)in a very poor race. He won very easily off a 7lb higher mark in Ireland(87) & was then slaughtered by the handicapper & ended up as high as 100. The second horse in that race was beaten a short head off a mark of 90. Probably neede his pipe opener last time out after a lay off & is now racing off a mark of 80. I think he could well spring a surprise at decent odds in either/both the win & place markets.

Evening all, i understand he’ll most likely be targeted at the National Spirit at Fontwell. I think we’ll unlikely see him in G1 company again unless they go for the World hurdle.
