Each to their own job, otherwise things could go badly wrong. There must be structure and order or what next? maybe a punter standing by one of the fences will fancy having a go at taking a flag off a flagman. Not very likely I know but still. it’s not as if there was nobody there to hold this flag if Ruby hadn’t have taken it upon himself to do it. He should have let them do their job.
Last grumble about this
Ruby looks to be too close to the action, putting himself in danger and also the other jockeys if a horse had jinked.
I also think that a quiet word would have been had with Ruby for his rash reaction. What if he’d picked up a wrong flag in his haste and waved one that indicated that the race should be stopped- what then?
