yes dave the maximum points would be 13, a horse that has won its last 2 and is also a c+d winner. when i first read about fineform i thought it was the golden elixiar to racing but i went over 5 years of racing and it isnt a system to use blindly. i wont bore with the details but the only regular profit (using fineform alone) was 2 1/2 mile handicap chases for some bizarre reason and races where a horse scored 13 and was the only winner last time out, i only use it in conjunction with other factors now for placepots, chipmunk

here are the top 3 for ayr today………how many times do we research a system only for it to flat on its face when the money is down……..
    ayr 1.50 mizooka 101 / bencoleen 101 / joinedupwriting 99
    ayr 2.20 unilateral 124 / loch jipp 117 / lady deauville 116
    ayr 2.50 mutajarred 120 / royal dignitary 111 / fremen 110
    ayr 3.30 indian trial 137 / beaver patrol 132 / pearly wey 131
    ayr 4.05 grimes faith 109 / stonehaugh 107 / imperial echo 107
    ayr 4.40 group captain 137 / confidential lady 136 / anna pavlova 135.
just giggling to myself my each way banker today is anna pavlova, how ironic if that one knocked me out in the last leg………chipmunk

fineform (at least the version i use is as follows)
look at any horses last 2 runs if it won 5 points second is 3 points third is 2 points fourth is 1 point. a course winner 1 point a disatnce winner 2 points, a course AND distance winner 3 points. add the numbers for its last 2 runs and any c+d points to give its numerical value. some people then add points for weight (ie 1 point for every pound below topweight) but i find this gives an overly biased advantage to lower weighted horses.a regular critisism of fineform is that it makes no allowance for class after all in a 2 horse race which one would you back……….horse 1) form lines 11….horse 2) form lines 00.( both horses carrying an identical weight). its a gimme that horse one is best……….but horse 1 won 2 selling races by a short head and horse 2 was fifth twice in group races………hhhhmmm. kinda puts a different perspective on it. to cancel that i incorperate the rpr for each horse as this includes its overall form, chipmunk

it would be a largeish bet for me but the lack of a win on soft is a concern but as a finisher with a virtually garuanteed fast pace could be coming late and fast, chipmunk (thanks for the welcome by the way)

as for jumps it has to be the late 70s for personal reasons………sea pigeon / monksfield / bula and on the flat the early 70s stand out as golden days, chipmunk

it did steve (finished third) that was over 5.5 furlongs and it was running on well so perhaps the extra .5 furlong can at least get it placed, chipmunk

as a newcomer on here but a follower of the RFU i attempted to use VDW but to put it bluntly i seemed to be looking for the perfect horse (to 3 decimal points) only for it to get turned over by a no hoper.i just feel you can get bogged down by stats and after spending hours studying form perheps instinct and experience are more reliable. my last attempt at VDW was a race at ascot which pointed me towards a horse that had ticks in all the right boxes only for the race to be run at a crawl and the form turned upside down……best of luck to anyone who uses VDW but its not for me,chipmunk
