Someone above mentioned french trained Manhaj above for the 2000 Guineas and he IS still in the race (and the Poulain too).

The poster commented that he may not have beaten much, and it is true that it is hard to evaluate the French 2 year old form AND he would have to improve from 2 to 3. However, in his last win, he gave at least 7lbs to the horses he beat, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ALL Won next time out, the second went on to be placed in two listed races and the 4th who is well regarded was 2nd in a Gp 3 and then 2nd in a G1 at Saint-Cloud.

Re the last post. Racing colours are administered by Weatherbys on behalf of the BHA. This would seem to be the obvious place to go with these kind of questions. Best of luck to those who go this route.

Evening Isinglass. Re your quest, I have a complete set of Copes, and have been through all the colours sections. Nearly everything you have from me came from those. Unfortunately for some of the years you really need, Copes decided not to do "winning owners colours". I have a couple of black and white photos which show versions of the remaining colours you are seeking – do you want these?

Evening all. Re facings – I do not know what these are. Pretty sure that they are not collar/cuffs though as these are mentioned as such, when a different colour to the main body.

nb – found a picture of Ridge Wood winning the Leger. In black and white, but the photo clearly shows pale (white?) braid/embroidery across the front of the jacket (much like the gold braid on the royal colours). Presumably these are "facings".

    I have found two more…..

Norman Donaldson (1949 1000gns) – Black and Pink Stripes, Black Sleeves and a White Cap.

Geoffrey Smith (1949 St Leger) – Peacock Blue, White Facings and Yellow Sleeves. Description does not mention the cap so I presume it will be Peacock Blue.

Cheers and best of luck with your search.

Good Evening. Info courtesy of the 1951 Cope’s annual. 1951 1000gns winner Belle of All owner Henry Tufton. presumably Mr H H S Tufton – Colours Light Blue, Scarlet striped sleeves, light blue cap, although the photograph of this horse winning as a two year old show the colours as hooped sleeves not striped. More news as I wade through my books. Cheers
