I don’t disagree that Kauto could have been in the shake up had he stayed up but I just think this time next year is a different story, when he’ll be 11 and there are younger horses coming through to challenge him.

I think you’ll find Big Buck’s will have one more season over hurdles. Maybe a hint from Nicholls that the King is far from finished

If Kauto Star has declined/regressed whatever you want to call it then I’d say Bucksy will be campaigned over fences next year, whch I doubt will happen!

I really think where Big Bucks go never year depends on what other chasers he has. I think Denman, Kauto are gone (in terms of a Gold Cup Challenge) and you’d be looking at What a Friend, Pride of Dulcote etc to step up to the plate. If they don’t, Big Bucks will be chasing.

Surely The Package is a real live contender for the National if he gets in. He’ll be off a good racing weight and looks like he’ll get the trip the way he finished in the Racing Post trophy. I do like the Dessie Hughes pair too, be interesting to see which horse Paddy Flood opts for.

I’m not predicting the end of Kauto Star but he is definitely past his best. There is no doubt that French breds who start their racing careers younger end them younger. Look at Voy Por Ustedes. He should be retired now. I think Nicholls knows Kauto’s time is coming to an end with talk of Big Bucks going chasing and What a Friend taking part in Cheltenham Gold Cup next year. I’d fancy Kauto to win easily that historic 5th King George and then finish in the places in next years Gold Cup before being retired.

    What of Denman though?

They’ve missed their chance, he’ll be too old in my opinion next year.

Jockey definitely do the horse any favours. He left him with too much to do. I’m disappointed for the connections, imagine Michael O’Leary offered them 1/2 million for the horse. I doubt he’d give that now.

I’m looking forward to logging back on this site at 1.40. Dunguib is unbeatable. A freak!

Did you see Matt Williams of Racing Post has predicted no wins this week for Willie Mullins. Bold.

I see Paul Dempsey put up Atletico Madrid to beat Mallorca as his football bet of the week on https://www.setantabet.com/ie/#/A77/Tip … mpsey.html

He obviously didn’t watch them play last night. Talk about a struggling 1 nil win. Mallorca are serious at home and I’d be backing them everyday against any team at home apart from the mighty Barca obviously.

The paper is good but this thing of charging for the news online at the site has really irked me. If you go to http://www.bettingmarket.co.uk they list a number of sites providing all that information for free. It’s much better than paying for it at the post website anyway.

I’m delighted. McCririck knows shag all about racing. He actually sounded racist yesterday when he was on newstalk radio station in Ireland. He was slagging off the Irish as a race no end. Disgusting. Dare he forget Barney Curley saved his bacon. Have a listen to the George Hook podcast from the 15th March and you’ll see what I mean. The less of see of John the better. Channel 4’s team isn’t great anyway, Tanya is the best of them.
