Zimbabwe (55 to 76 +21) runs Monday 2.00 Plumpton with revised rating.
Ran earlier 5th Dec also at Plumpton 18lb out of the handicap but managed a creditable win so is hiked accordingly. Seemingly somewhat harsh, as this gelding is now 11 years of age and hardly progressive (race record, about 50 NH runs and 5 wins). Even with the new rating Zimbabwe is still 6lb out of the handicap in this latest race.
It’s a ridiculous hike. Can they not just put it up 7lbs ? If the bookies think the handicapper has it wrong, the price will be short. If it goes in again, revise it’s rating accordingly
Handicapper should think more about horses winning than bookies losing.
This happened to a plater a couple of years ago. One win in about 15-20 races and it was put up two stone.
