Yeats will be the banker of the meeting, classy and scary as hell when he gets going!
June 12, 2008 at 03:05 #167939I’m with Librettist as I think Yeats will have his hands full with Coastal Path..
I’d rather back Septimus against Coastal Path.
June 12, 2008 at 03:37 #167944At a backable price has to be Fleeting Spirit for me…..
Haydock was as an exciting a sprint performance (and she is only likely to improve) as I have seen in a very long time
June 12, 2008 at 13:13 #167991No dead certs for me. But even if 10 furlongs is reaching the limit of Sageburg’s effectiveness range, I’ll be taking him to extract his revenge over Duke of Marmalade, should he take that route.
Imho, he (Sageburg) stepped up considerably on his seasonal debut when beating Darjina last time and almost certainly achieved as least as much as – possibly more than – the Duke did on his last run.
June 12, 2008 at 14:12 #168008Tariq is overpriced. Cesare isn’t a Group 1 horse, and Haradasun is an unknown quantity, and is priced up too short for an unknown quantity. Tariq’s career best is the Jersey win, looks a knocking bet to me, dare i even say e/w bet to nothing.
June 12, 2008 at 14:32 #168027I’m warming to Sageburg in the Queen Anne Stakes. He’s going there instead, and I’m thrilled for this.
June 12, 2008 at 21:57 #168111On two already that have already been mentioned.
Strongly fancy the chances of Fleeting Spirit in the King Stand and Bankable in the Royal Hunt Cup.
Still kicking meself for not wading into Fleeting Spirit when she was 5’s.
June 12, 2008 at 22:23 #168118There’s always an international flavour to Royal Ascot, but while most people will be looking at horses from Ireland, France and Australia, I’ll be watching the runners from the Delcher Sanchez stable in Spain. One of them, Bannaby, won a Listed race at Maisons Laffite today in very impressive style, and holds an entry for the Ascot Gold Cup (although just a weeks break might not be ideal). However, the same trainer will run Equisio in the Kings Stand. Regarded as the best sprinter in Spain, he was a fine second to Marchand D’or in France recently, and I’ll have him down as my each way good thing.

June 12, 2008 at 23:14 #168128Hello,
Aiden said:
BRONZE CANNON in the King Edward. Progressing fast and rock solid form in high class hanidcaps. Looks ready for step up in class/trip and will be hard to beat.
Just curious, why didn’t he take up his Derby entry??
regards,
doyley
June 13, 2008 at 13:51 #168220They pulled him out at the five day stage because the ground was deemed too slow. Little did they know how much it would dry out from the Monday until the day itself!
June 15, 2008 at 15:43 #168441A Gold Cup without fences/ or a Nicholls horse just isn’t right.
Saying that I hope Yeats wins to complete the hat-trick, if not then I hope it rains all week and the ground is heavy and it turns into a true test of stamina!!
Too many middle distance horses do well in the race – is it a truly run 2m4f?June 15, 2008 at 16:07 #168445I fancy Aidan O’Brien to have a winning treble, in the shape of Henrythenavigator, Duke of Marmalde and Yeats (despite the presence of Coastal Path).

June 15, 2008 at 23:51 #168487Us Ranger in the Golden Jubilee.
You havent seen the best of this horse yet.
June 16, 2008 at 09:26 #168504I’ve been waiting too long for the "best" of US Ranger. I’ve had enough.
June 16, 2008 at 09:28 #168505Tariq & Yeats
June 16, 2008 at 11:44 #168529I backed Tariq all last year after his Jersey win and this horse does not a mile in top class company. He may place but I can;t see him winning.
June 16, 2008 at 11:50 #168531I can;t see him winning
On the contrary, it’s on the BBC around 2:35
