I’m coming late to the party but my wishes for this year would be:
An end to these farcical NH races being run with half the jumps taken out or five furlong run ins.
The best horses taking each other on a la Cue Card and Thistlecrack. What are the odds on Faugheen and Annie Power avoiding each other?
And on a parochial note for the Scottish courses to continue to flourish. The improvement in facilities, crowds and prize money has been fantastic in the last 10 years.
Cue Card and Thistlecrack are not in the same ownership, Faugheen and Annie Powe are. Therefore, unfortunately, it’s understandable that they are unlikely to ever meet.

It’s not understandable. Not only are you depriving everyone of a classic match up but you are doing a disservice to one of your own horses. If Annie Power goes to the mares hurdle you are denying her the chance to go down in history as a dual winner of the champion. In fact she could easily have been trying to become a triple winner this season.
How popular would tennis be if Djokovic only played the Australian open, Nadal the French open and Murray Wimbledon. Sport should be about the best taking on the best in events that will live long in the memory regardless of whether they have the same agent, owner or team.

So don't run, just like the others always do

I would argue that it is not Ricci who is depriving us of thus duel but Cheltenham with their mares hurdle. If I own Annie Power and Faugheen I would have to strongly consider splitting them up, thus giving them both better chances of winning and not getting an unnecessarily hard race. Send one to Aintree and the other to Punchestown then. The whole system encourages owners to keep their horses apart, which is unfortunate. And I see one wish on this thread to introduce a 2m 4f Grade 1 at the Cheltenham Festival.
Scrapping the Mares Hurdle, Ryanair, Albert Bartlett, JLT, Martin Pipe, Mares Novice Hurdle and one of the 3m handicap chases would be a good thing imo. I’ve only ever known a four day festival, and I love it, but I’d imagine the three day format was truly brilliant.
