Completely agree, batman…………………and you don’t have to be Irish to appreciate him – he was a great horse.

sorry if that came off wrong it’s just that he did not race much in England and the coverage of Irish racing on Tv was not great when he was winning nearly every week and he even beat the great istabraq in the Hattons Grace was 2nd in the stayers on good to firm which he did not race to his best on and was 3rd in same race which was his last ever run in that great race between Baracouda & Iris Gift it’s also a credit to the Bowes training who have had similar results with solerina etc…
October 18, 2008 at 14:16 #185243There are so many horses for me which have stood out but some of my favourites were Suny Bay, Mysilv, First Gold, Best Mate, Gloria Victus, Rooster Booster, Moscow Flyer, Istabraq, Well Chief, Denman, Kauto Star, Penzance and Comply or Die. As you can see I have lots here but there are more than that which I could have put down as I am a huge fan of the jumps in general as I think there is more excitment and also the horses stay around a lot longer so you get to know them more.
October 18, 2008 at 17:46 #185270Have to say i am bit shocked espes from the Irish folks on here that LIMESTONE LAD has not got that many mentions his stats are….
HURDLE: 55 RUNS 31 wins 11 2nd’s 4 3rd’s
CHASE: 6 RUNS 4 wins 1 2nd
FLAT: 4 RUNS 0 wins 1 2nd 2 3rd’s
He has to be one of the most genuine honest hardest working Horse’s of all time, its just sad he never got the ground he thrived on at the festival what a servant………
Ditto. The only weakness was that he wasnt that well behaved when he travelled. I belive he gave himself little chance against Bacchanal by just how upset he had in the day or two leading up to the race.
I thinks incredible just how often he could run though. Every week, and its a perception that the modern horse is not bred to to be able to do that at a high level.
