October 14, 2009 at 10:13 #253279for the International there’s a pretty good review of each runner on the dedicated site:
http://www.woodbineentertainment.com/Ca … fault.aspx
Johnston, Balding and Bell must be happy at the recent hugely increased value of CAD against GBP.
can’t immediately find a similar dedicated site for the EP Taylor, or indeed the Nearctic, both of them also Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In races, which seems a missed opportunity for the biggest day in Canadian racing.
i do like the coverage of HK racing at 1 am local time though:
October 14, 2009 at 17:39 #253330Allied Powers will be Jim Crowley
Jukebox Jury – Royston Ffrench
Buccellati – William Buick
Quijano – Andrasch StarkeEastern Aria – Royston Ffrench
Lahaleeb – William Buick
Rainbow View – Julian Leparoux
Look Here – Jim CrowleyAt Blue Square prices I like Marsh Side for the Canadian International (last year’s winner and disqualifed after winning the Northern Dancer over course and distance).
For the E.P. Taylor I can’t see beyond Rainbow View and Look Here but Salve Germania (12/1 and now Todd Pletcher) is each-way value.
October 14, 2009 at 19:55 #253347Blue Square have priced it up a bit wonky in my view. 11/4 for Look Here looks alot better than 4/5 for Rainbow View. Then for some odd reason they have Eastern Aria at 16’s, yes 16’s.
October 15, 2009 at 06:57 #253429griff,
what chance do you give Roses’n’Wine in the EP Taylor, available at 33/1 with UK bookies ?
Chantal will be desperate to get another BC mount…..
best regards

October 17, 2009 at 01:36 #253734I was hoping we might see better fields than the ones provided. But, still there are plenty of Group/Grade 1 winners running. I’m probably going to lay Look Here in the EP Taylor and Jukebox Jury, just because they should get outpaced at some stage in both of their races coming into the straight.
October 17, 2009 at 01:50 #253735What price are you laying look here at ?
October 17, 2009 at 01:58 #253737I’ll obviously see. I’ll also have to look at the ground because the softer it is the more the more it brings stamina into play. I think Betfair will have it as a very dominant market between Rainbow View and Look Here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rainbow View at 6/4 and Look Here at no bigger than 9/4.
October 17, 2009 at 03:45 #253760With rain – Rainbow View.
Incidentally, if Rainbow View wins regardless of the going, would that put to bed any lingering arguments about her having trained on? Small, she certainly is, but she’s alway run creditably with ease in the ground and feel she’s been harshly treated after all her defeats on a faster going. I feel she’s very much underrated and really hope she collects.
October 17, 2009 at 04:49 #253768Dont think ill bother back Rainbow view at them prices but ill still shout for her as shes in my TTF. Jukebox Jury for me in the big one.
October 18, 2009 at 01:44 #253997Lahaleeb was pretty impressive in the E P Taylor, winning fairly comfortably from Rainbow View. Princess Haya plugged on to be third. Buick gave the winner a nice ride, he really looks like he’s going to be a leading rider for many years to come.
Quite a shock result from my standpoint, would never have picked her out as a likely candidate for a Group 1, especially over 10f. A giant step up from her early unplaced efforts at Folkestone last year.
October 18, 2009 at 02:00 #254002Champs Elysees produced a smart turn of foot in the last furlong to deny Jukebox Jury victory in the International. Ffrench took the lead entering the straight but JJ just lacked the winner’s speed.
Yet another G1 for supersire Danehill.
He is now to be retired to stud in the UK, presumably to stand alongside his full brother, Dansili. He won’t be going to the Breeders’ Cup.
October 18, 2009 at 02:13 #254005Interesting enough racing at Woodbine. Both of my lays lost, but not in the style I thought they would so there’s a fair degree of luck there.
Look Here should be retired now imo. She had one huge run in the Oaks and she’s never repeated it since, and probably never will. Plus she’s had her "problems."
Rainbow View ran as well as Rainbow View runs. Deep down we all know she’s short of top class even by fillies standards.
I’m stunned Lahaleeb won. Connections should forget the Breeders Cup because the ground will be like a road at Santa Anita.
As for Jukebox Jury in the Canadian International, he ran really well but he was always going to vulnerable to something that has a good turn of foot. Champs Elysees does well in soft American or Canadian Grade 1 races. I can’t see placing at the Breeders Cup – be it the Turf or the Classic.

Not quite sure what you mean. Fair enough, she won a weak Oaks, but she clearly progressed after that and was campaigned at the highest level, resulting in sound efforts against some good animals every time. She may have come to the end of her tether for this year but there’s no good reason to think she’s finished.
Rainbow View ran as well as Rainbow View runs. Deep down we all know she’s short of top class even by fillies standards.
Probably right there, although of her 10 visits to the track, she only encountered her favoured conditions 5 times, winning four of them including a group one against her elders and finishing second to another group one winner in Midday. Not bad for a fillie that hasn’t trained on, I say, and still underrated IMO.
