Yes, I don’t really get the double luge. It looks like a way of contriving another event. There were only 11 teams in the women’s event anyway.
The idea of doing a back flip on skates!
February 11, 2026 at 19:30 #1754303I saw the men’s event which in fairness did deliver an exciting finish but yes it does seem slightly excessive, particularly as the women’s event clearly wasn’t oversubscribed.
I hope that the BBC hype train doesn’t give the kiss of death to the figure skating pair. They have even been promoted to BBC1.
February 12, 2026 at 20:36 #1754400Short Track Speed Skating … what’s the point? Surely has to be a serious contender for the most unfair sport
February 13, 2026 at 10:35 #1754455Only the round robin but great game in curling going on 7-7 into last end Italy will have last stone though
February 13, 2026 at 10:44 #1754459Lost 9-7
February 13, 2026 at 21:05 #1754522That was some performance from Matt Weston. Well done to him.
February 13, 2026 at 21:16 #1754523As our American cousins would say, he smashed it out of the park.
I am a little surprised to see he is as big as 8/1 for Sports Personality of the Year. OK, it is a World Cup year; and the likes of Lando Norris have to be considered as well. But I am happy to throw a fiver on at that price.
February 13, 2026 at 21:53 #1754531I wonder if George Russell would be prominent in the betting if he were to become F1 champion. He’s only 7/4 for the Drivers’ Championship, though I’m not sure he’s got the right attitude to become champion.
I mean someone who complains way too much through team radio lacks the class of becoming even a title contender.February 13, 2026 at 21:59 #1754532Wow, Malinin absolutely blew it.
February 14, 2026 at 11:26 #1754594It is all kicking off in the curling, of all places.
February 14, 2026 at 11:47 #1754598Should have stoned him
I’ll get my coat
February 15, 2026 at 14:00 #1754863Gold in the snowboarding.
The first time Britain has ever won more than one gold medal at a winter games. And the first ever gold in a snow event.

February 15, 2026 at 18:36 #1754907And another gold, in the team skeleton. How did Matt Weston pull that one out of the fire?
February 15, 2026 at 22:52 #1754924Watching the luge; it would be far more interesting if they sent them down two at a time
February 16, 2026 at 08:34 #1754936Why are so many competitors in the skating falling over?
Is the ice rink poor? Are they trying to do too much with quadruple jumps etc? Or are they not as good as skaters of yesteryear?
It is not entirely pleasing to realise it is now fifty years since the great John Curry won the gold medal in Innsbruck, at the time only Britain’s fifth such medal at a winter games.
He really was something else:
February 17, 2026 at 18:16 #1755049I have been away so missed the gold rush. Brilliant stuff. Back to the curling now, could do with the win here.
The BBC asks what has gone wrong for British short track speed skating. It’s pretty obvious, as we were discussing it’s a bit of a lottery. You can be the fastest but someone clips you and it’s game over. Who wants to dedicate their life to that? The sliding events for example are essentially you vs the track. I know which I’d be more inspired to try.
