Galopin Des Champs won this race last year
is there a future Cheltenham Gold Cup horse still in this years decs?
    Yes there is… Mighty Potter
Mullins could be throwing as many as 6 at him although I expect he will take a few out
I like Flanking Maneuver but he needs further and not quite at this level

The 11/8 is a bit of a tight price considering he wants the Gold Cup trip and the Mullins brigade will slow things down and box him in
still a champion wins in all scenarios

I’d have to agree with you Nathan, Mighty Potter deserves to be fav, but I’m
not mad about the 11/8. I’ve gone through them looking for a bit of value and
I think that Brides Hill looks to be an improving type, she won her last very
easily, not against this standard admittedly, but having a thankless task the
time before against Allegorie De Vassy (1/8) she was well clear of the rest.
She gets the 7lb allowance against the boys and I think she’s well worth a
    place in this.

At the prices im playing Sir Gerhard , he isn’t the most natural of jumpers but after last time you’ve got take Potter on and Appreciate it also tends to find one or 2 to good at the top level , Sir is in a lucky 31 along with American Mike , Parmenion , Ashroe Diamond and Classic Lord

Can’t be having Sir Gerhard, HDLG. His jumping isn’t good enough, and he finished legless at Cheltenham. I’d have given him more time to recover.

Glad I wouldn’t say Porter was much better , as I said he isn’t a natural but if he starts ok then his class could get t m through

    I’m sitting this one out

Impossible to know how they’ve all come out of Cheltenham

Potter and Appreciate It hung like rusty gates and Sir gerhard was treading water up the hill

I’d consider taking them on with flame bearer, who had an easy race last time, but don’t trust his jumping in the slightest

Mighty Potter is the best of these but had a torrid time at Cheltenham; Appreciate It had a slightly easier time of it I think and I’ll try him here ridden more prominently.

I’ll have small ews on the outsiders Adamantly Chosen, who was given an easy time when beaten in the BANC, and Authorized Art who was relaxing in his stable while everybody else was slogging. Got a little Danny Mullins ew double with that one and Princess Zoe earlier too.

I’m going to join in with Brides Hill. I didn’t quite get 33-1 though + I’ve settled for 20-1

Cheltenham runners not having a great time. I’ll top up on Authorized Art.

Jerry Hannon at least had the decency to sound a bit subdued for the rest of the race after letting us know that Mighty Potter had “got to his feet” whilst the rest of us were thinking “yes but not all of them”. Better than screaming home the winner while The Gunner Yeats was still in his death throes, leaving it to his colleagues to tactfully point out, in not quite so many words, that the Ricci’s horse fall was a fatal one.

Very well said. greenasgrass. He never has the guts to tell you the truth, unlike Gary O’Brien who always knows how horrible an injury is.

“Got to his feet” is a bit of an insult to such a great performer, but somehow it’s true.

Quite a few Festival runners running on empty over the last two days.

Gary O’Brien always strikes the right note after there has been an obvious fatality in a race. His first comments are always about the stricken horse.

Unfortunately not all broadcasters follow his example. Tom Bull on RTV is particularly poor, often talking enthusiastically about a finish before mentioning the injured horse.

There was a horrible looking incident at Newton Abbott yesterday and all Luke Harvey could do was talk about the finish. Fortunately the horse was OK.

Was that the horse that fell under the rail and into a ditch?

    It looked absolutely awful.
