Whillie Mullins is only about 250,000 away from heading the British trainers table. I can’t see him making it but it is a might impressive achievement so far.
Just to add: Having listened to RUK’s interview this morning with Paul Nicholls, Nicholls suggests that Ruby being with him for those years was “Mullins plan all along” and that Ruby had left Ditcheat with many “pearls of wisdom” – it was tongue but he put it out there. Sounds like he thinks the best of his contacts have been used, as he certainly isn’t getting the horses anymore and he admitted that.
Willie Mullins is giving British Championship a go to win it, that would be a an achievement.
I can see Mullins winning enough at Aintree to take the lead except the grand national. Mullins will run ballycasey, on his own, Boston Bob and sir des champs…. Nichols will run conti, unioniste and possibly some more yet to be confirmed. If either Mullins or Nichols win then the championship is there’s but the chances are neither will win it… therefore if Mullins sends an extra couple to Sandown then I believe he will win it
Suspect Mullins takes far more horses to Aintree this year.
Can’t see either Nicholls or Mullins winning the National and ante-post betting for other Aintree races show Mullins with a lot of chances, Nicholls with very few. Latter will be hoping a few British trainers do him a favour (Alan King / Yanworth, Colin Tizzard / Cue Card, Twiston Davies The New One etc) – preventing Mullins winning.Value Is EverythingBest run for the Championship for years, I can’t see Mr Nicholls being very thrilled by this prospect at all. There are a lot of trainers this year on over 1 million in prize money which has to be a good thing.
To be honest if Nicholls wins this year it’ll be some achievement itself given the depth of dross in the stable.
