I’m not going to argue with how you rate the horse Aragorn, but surely you can’t say that he ran to form today? If so Kasbah Bliss has posted near 170!
February 16, 2008 at 20:19 #143963He did win the Second Division stayers novice hurdle Aragon but even on this seasons form at Cheltenham, should have run better than that.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 16, 2008 at 20:26 #1439673 words – Black Jack Ketchum.. Same thing happening again.. But thats not really Jonjo’s fault.
Wichita Lineman is slow.. Which is why he’ll never win a top championship event over hurdles
I’m just giving my opinion. Last years novices are an extremely average bunch bar two superstars
February 16, 2008 at 20:38 #143976Your all missing the point – He’s never been good enough. His form is suspect and has been shown up now.
Mate I don’t want to get into a battle about this but do the names Tidal Bay and Air Force One mean anything to you?
He beat both of them pointless last year and they are both going to Cheltenham with near fav chances.
He’s a top class horse and ok today wasn’t his day……Jonjo will straighten him out he’s not BJK who is a mystery, he a straight forward horse in comparison.
He’ll be back mark my words
February 16, 2008 at 20:48 #143980Wichita Lineman is a top class animal. I wouldn’t call him slow – f***ing lazy is more appropriate.
It’s been mentioned before, but he’s in serious need of some headgear. An attractive ew proposition for the World Hurdle at double figures.
He would still find it hard to beat Inglis Drever even with the application of blinkers. IDs just far too good.
February 16, 2008 at 20:54 #143981I’ve been convinced for a long time he ain’t that good and i’m just venting my spleen a bit as he’s been overhyped. I’m not looking to get into a slanging match so apologies if i’m coming accross confrontational.
He beat Tidal Bay on heavy ground and Air Force one is a decent horse but he’s leagues away from ID or even Lough Derg over hurdles.. Sometimes novice form just doesn’t carry over because the crop wasn’t very good. IMO that whats happened here..
Headgear may help but I think he has more chance of winning the national!!! (In a few years he may well do)
February 16, 2008 at 21:06 #143986Better you than me mate riding him in the national…..he hits a flat spot looks damn dangerous when mcCoy starts pushing and shoving………probably try and run straight through bechers
I think I done my cash on him for Cheltenham but maybe he forgot the flat spot was supposed to come in the middle of the race not the end and AP will remind him……….I can hear the voice now as he goes into the winners enclosure after the world hurdle………ahem!!! Mr O’Neill stewards room please

For my money the stop/go pace didn’t help WL at all, and he was simply done for speed in the last 6f or so.
Lough Derg did his usual; set off at a million miles an hour, took a breather mid race, and then kicked again from 4 out. WL had travelled well up to that moment, but simply didn’t have the speed of the nippier LD and Kasbah Bliss from that point.
Given a better pace in the World Hurdle, I would expect him to turn around the form with both of them on the stiffer track convincingly, though Inglis Drever is a whole different ball game. -
