They are racing again at Newmarket this weekend, for the traditional Cambridgeshire meeting. And in a fortnight afer that. And Racing is not just about the admission ticket…its about the betting.
A bad day and you’re looking at a ton minimum.
There’s been an awful lot of racing down that way this year. And I’ve seen better Ascot cards than this in the past.
As for "Ascot at" comparisons, York is an unfair comparison to make because if you ran flapping dogs on the Knavesmire, 20,000 would turn up!
September 26, 2005 at 20:45 #67034Going racing to York vs the Southern courses at the big meetings is much better value. The 3 day ticket at the Ebor meeting is very fairly priced indeed.
York’s stand is first class. It really looks classy, the size of the stand is significant as so many more can be catered for and in much better surroundings and comfort, there is a really good proportion of seating. The atmosphere generated at York is also far superior to Newmarket. The access to the padock is not ideal, but there’s a fair bit of space and you can get to it along the front rail as well as behind the stand. The town is awesome as well, Newmarket is a ghost town. The train service at Newmarket is desperate too.
When in Rome, and all that.
June 30, 2022 at 07:00 #1604696gamble would never feel the need to justify himself – this resurrection is consequently a pale imitation.

June 30, 2022 at 07:33 #1604698Oh, your instinctive desire to show your reasoning is, I would say, very human, normal and, let’s be honest, everything gamble is not.
