Timothy Dalton is vastly underrated as Bond and he runs Sean Connery to a close second IMO.

I think George Lazenby was underrated. As was David Niven who played the role in a spoof. The best bond stories was Pierce Bronson though.

Ohmss is very underated esp considering its got Diana Rigg in it , Dalton took it to seriously , I like The Living Daylights but Licence to kill is prob one of the worst films , Brosnan is prob the weakest Bond in my eyes Red Rum

Never been a fan of Bond, whoever played him. Or any “action” film tbh.
So a second vote for Brooke Bond.
Admittedly never seen one on the big screen. But often started watching them on reputation, seldom get to the end.

    Bah humbug.

What about Basildon Bond if Brooke allowed.

Having read the books, and having liked the dysfunctional, disturbed, anti hero that Fleming created, I would have to say that Daniel Craig was far and away the best Bond, though Sean Connery was decent in Dr No, especially the “you’ve had your six” line.

But Connery’s Bond steadily became a dodgy comedian after that as did Roger Moore.

Did still enjoy their Bond movies, though.

The new bond is a reworkng of on her majesty secret service in my opinion. Like Never say never again was a reworking of Thunderball. And after watching all of Daniel Craig Bonds, I think each film has a story arc from his beginnings to his ends.

Might be a woman, in the last movie they had a woman 007. To which Bond replied if he was bothered, “It’s just a number!”

George is 80 now so although having all the time in the world, is possibly just too old for a comeback. Taking on the likes of the intellectually brazen man beater Diana Rigg takes a rare male with a large undercarriage. Lazenby may have been a wooden actor but give the big Fry man a chance he drove that car superbly in OHMSS, or was he in the back seat and Diana was driving ?

They ignored all his suggestions on set. He should of knocked their lights out like he did in audition. Poor George just needed a bit of TLC.
‘dont TOUCH and LET me be COMMANDER’

I am in the fan club.

The second Bond I thought worthy of mention, who like George is also an octogenarian is Cliff Richard in the small box office hit, Live and let’s Pray. He converted most of Spectre to take up vows and didn’t he run well through the streets of Naples when they found out the bible was about a good man who believed in giving a lot away.

Gamble take time out to watch Lazenby’s Universal Soldier , the film he did instead of another Bond flick , it’s 70s tastic , the final straw with the bond team was him turning up at the premiere with a full beard and long hair ….Brocolli when nuts apparently , Connery would have approved as he and Cubby hated each other in the end

Ground you sound as if you approve of George too. Yes I will have a look. I think he could have been a great Bond if they had been nice and patient with him. He met Brocolli having his hair cut sitting next to him. ( All I picked up at the hairdresser was a nineteen year old Bond girl called Covid.)

He ordered a Saville Row suit for his audition and practiced as Bond in the mirror. He might have been a bit shorter than some of the Bonds but he lacked confidence that was all. He has done well as an actor in other countries too and the film OHMSS is ranked 4 I think in polls of fans – I did particularly like Goldfinger but yes OHMSS is as watchable to me and up there with the greats – the snowy through mountain scenes with music to die for were brill and were capable of giving weak hearted a cardiac arrest.

I just had a look at his Big Fry turkish delight commercial and it is not the one I remember when he was coming out of the sea with a giant bar and a rather strange pair of bathers. I can remember he was paid £3k for that advert.

Rock on George – I would put a Walther PPK back in his inside pocket – make sure not to stir or shake him, and have him snaking at speed through high mountain ranges in that distinctive gun coloured DB5 in a heartbeat.

Moore had the right idea , don’t take the part to seriously , I recommend Moore’s biography highly , a very funny man and while he wasn’t as good as actor as Connery he was certainly a better man , he was good pals with David Niven and you can see some of Niven rubbed off on him , he worked for years with UNICEF , Gamble Google George Lazonby and Return of the man from uncle ….enjoy
