My money is on SDS at present but there will be many twists and turns. Moore could win by default if nobody tries. Hughes is also a contender if he can avoid being banned. Hanagan might give it another whirl as he won without over-exerting himself last year.
February 23, 2012 at 13:03 #393172Fallon?
With Hanagan and De Sousa now having to follow their contracts rather than the huge number of race meets that have got them their wins, have they ruled themselves out of the running for CJ but in the running for Grp wins?
Hughes doesn’t seem to want to chase the races so maybe it’s between Moore and Fallon with Fallon more likely to want the CJ again to get him another contract?
February 23, 2012 at 13:13 #393178I’m so happy for Paul getting that job well deserved!! Buick for champion jockey now
February 23, 2012 at 18:02 #393224Joni, was in total agreement with you on SDS but .. now? With a f/t job for Godolphin, is it likely?
February 23, 2012 at 18:03 #393226On a re-read and second thoughts, yes .. it’s likely!

Yes Joe. As I predicted he would get the job I am still confident. The only thing that has surprised me is that he has been lengthened in the market (especially as I took the bleedin 3-1! )
MJ has said he will still ride for him and M Al Z is going to be the trainer to follow this season. He got off to a flyer last year and is firing in winner after winner in Meydan. I have had a bit of fun on him for the trainers title.
I can’t see Ryan Moore winning it as I think Sir Michael has a bit to prove after 3 declining seasons. Hanagan will go close again despite the new job and I am sure Fallon will want to win it again but SDS is still the one for me.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
February 23, 2012 at 19:58 #393257Folks , if Hannon has another good year , then its Hughes all the way

February 23, 2012 at 21:57 #393287hope this gives buick a chance to shine now, texted him a few days ago when the hillsy story came out, hes not been getting the rides he deserves IMO Yes yes i know hes had alot of success at the top level but its the numbers that count, and for his sake i hope he can rack them up this year and i fully expect him too, genuine jockey and has a great racing brain.
February 24, 2012 at 20:50 #393435agree with those who think hanagan, de souza ,hughes, moore, just to throw a different name into the pot i think neil callan could have a good season i know he is a big outsider for champion jockey but i was just looking for somebody outside the big four or five another might be freddie tylicki
February 24, 2012 at 21:31 #393446Richard Fahey has a vacancy now Hanagan has moved on, and whoever he appoints will have a good leg-up towwards the jockey title.
I would offer William Carson the job – now there’s a lad on the way up.
(Trapper John, I share your good opinion of Freddie Tylicki, but he’s unlikey to get the number of rides to be champion unless he lands a good retainer.)
February 25, 2012 at 10:59 #393517Fahey has said he won’t be appointing anyone as Hanagan will continue to ride for him when possible. I’d imagine they’ll wait and see how that works before reviewing the situation
February 25, 2012 at 12:42 #393541De Sousa and Hanagan are off into a different world and won’t be giving a hoot about championships.
Nothing changes for Hughsie and he looks an absolute certainty to me.
February 25, 2012 at 13:26 #393551Assuming the ban imposed in India is overturned?
Rob
March 11, 2012 at 10:06 #395807Appeal failed
March 11, 2012 at 16:59 #395875They have been after him ever since he went out there if it was an Indian rider in this country and this kept happening what will it be called?
March 11, 2012 at 17:07 #395879The Indian ban is not certain to be reciprocated here where it isn’t even an offence. I know Hughes has had success out there but why he bothers riding in the third world when his father in law has 240 odd horses here baffles me.
March 11, 2012 at 21:32 #395913What chance of Tom Queally? I know he’s the legendary Sir HRAC’s retained jock but he picks up a few outside rides
