Knowing the finances in Scotland i wouldnt think Neil Lennon himself is a waste of a time from a betting point of view.

If he does well till end of the season they will very likely give him it.

Stuart Baxter, superb record, plenty of European experience I’m amazed he’s not been offered a big job in Scotland or England

    Mo Johnstone?

    Graeme Souness…why not?

Steve Patterson :D He sure knows how to beat Celtic

Yes very funny. Stewart Baxter’s name is the media in- joke up here. His name used to crop up all the time when the Celtic manager’s job became available. He still won’t get as much as an interview.

It is easier to say who won’t get the job.

The best and most obvious candidtes won’t touch the job -simply because they are plying their trade in a bigger and richer league where money is king : e.g. Moyes, Coyle and McCarthy.

Neil Lennon ( who was banned from travelling in the team bus and sitting in the dug-out by Mowbray ) has been given the job on a temporary basis. His assistant will be ex Celtic defender; Swede, Johan Mjallby. It is unlikely that Lennon would be offered the job full-time -but not wholly out of the question. He is popular among fans and players.

Ex Celt, Paul Lambert, is doing very well at Norwich City and is the bookie’s favourite – and would be my realistic choice. A good tactician, who won a European Cup winner’s medal with Borrussia Dortmund, he has a good grasp of tactics and sets his team out in the right manner. But, he has already indicated that he does not want the job given the intensity and pressures that go with it – saying he prefers the quiet life in Norfolk. Who can blame him.

Mark Hughes is a feasible candidate and could well be in the running; as no doubt will Roy Keane. who would quit Ipswich tomorrow to take up the post.

However, the board may wish to go down the foreign route again. In that case, the likes of Slaven Bilic could re-emerge as a serious contender.

As for the the Chuckle brothers Pompete ( ), we have just got rid of three of them.

He’d do a good job I’m sure, he has done everywhere he’s been, I don’t get it???
He was offered the Aberdeen job a couple of years but turned it down as he didn’t think Stuart Milne’s ambition for the club matched his

Jinky makes it into my "Best Scotland Team" currently being run on STV on Thursday nights, it was great to see clips from the 1967 Real Madrid match last night… :D

    My team so far

Law & Jordan (hard to leave Gilzean and Dalglish out though)
Baxter, Souness, Jimmy Johnston and fourth midfielder from Cooper/Robertson/Gemmill

100/1 Steve Staunton … and those odds are probably too skinny.

Celtic have already got rid of one disaster; they (hopefully) will not make the same mistake twice running.

Interesting. Yes I too am selecting a team. Differs slightly from yours – but I’m keeping it under wraps for now. :)

It’s hard…I’m only 100% set in stone as regards Law and Baxter I was privelidged to be behind the goal at Wembley in 1963 when Baxter put two past England after Eric Caldow broke his leg. Golden moments!!!!

I had expected Willie Henderson to feature in the short list
