I guess for the mainstreamers, it would have to be Dave Grohl for his perfectly rhythmitic piece in Queens Of The Stone Age – Song For the Dead.
But for something a little more out there, check out this dude playing to Slaves Shall Serve by Poland’s finest, Behemoth.

)October 30, 2007 at 15:35 #122314Matron…Keith Moon

I remember reading in my formative years how Keith Moon once approached the McWhither twins* from the Guiness Book of Records in an attempt to have his claim of having performed (how shall I put this?) conclusive cunnilingus on 32 women consecutively entered into the Record Book

They don’t make rock stars like they used too

* Thank you to NV for correcting me….how could I get their name wrong

That last reply somewhat tickled me, if that’s the right phrase.

The Queen is Dead by the Smiths, not only the greatest band of all time, but one of the best albums of all time.
October 30, 2007 at 23:40 #122379Whilst I agree there are lots of amazing drum solos on youtube I like this one because it is part of a great pop song –

Clem Burke was overlooked but I think a talented drummer who drives this along like an express train.
November 4, 2007 at 21:00 #122970Some guy who drummed for a band called Quickpace Supersport in the early- to mid-1990s. Judged by Google, I think it must have been Max Corradi.
Awesome.
November 5, 2007 at 08:38 #122994…later to become Quickspace, and to deliver some of the more interesting singles of the late 90s – Friend, Rise and the incredible Lobbalong Song to name but three.

November 12, 2007 at 20:30 #124435Reni’s drumming in the Stone Roses "Fools Gold" is right out of the top-drawer.
November 12, 2007 at 22:15 #124447I don’t know what is good drumming in the technical sense, so I’ll just name songs where I like the sound of the drums: Nirvana’s Son Of A Gun cover (I love those perfectly measured, crisp, pounding hits), the drums on Lovecraft by The Vaselines (that slightly militant-sounding, slightly Brazilian-sounding thing) and on Angels VS Aliens by Mogwai (same…).
November 12, 2007 at 22:43 #124452Anything by Animal from the Muppets!!
November 14, 2007 at 12:12 #124708There is a great clip on youtube of Animal from the Muppets having a drum off with Buddy Rich. All Animals drumming was done by Ronnie Verrell who turned up at the end of his career as the drummer for the Skinnerettes on the Frank Skinner show. FS once had an 11 year old kid come on and play Paranoid by Black Sabbath and the elderly Verrell (who was well into his 70’s) went apesh#t on the drums accompanying him. That was a pretty good performance.
