Just took my 290 for Alexander Taipan.
I doubt very much that he’ll be in the frame for the Gold Cup but he’s the best Willie Mullins has to offer (including the GN bound Snowy Morning) and his price is bound to contract once he gets placed in the Lexus/Hennessy.
Who’s your triple figure Cheltenham fancy?
October 8, 2007 at 09:59 #118447Blazing Baileys
Performed with great credit as a 5 year old in all the top staying hurdles last year and a year older seems the best bet in what could prove to be the weakest of the championship divisions.
Inglis Drever is a year older and has to be on the wane at this stage. BJK has proven to be a hype horse – Mighty Man has regrettably left the scene and Hardy Eustace is a light of previous years even over this extended trip.
Wichita Lineman was impressive at Cheltenham but I would be inclined to wait another year with that fella.
At 8’s or higher and with Alan King becoming a Festival trainer to follow – he is my idea of a winter warmer!!
Best
October 8, 2007 at 13:48 #118505Not usually my thing, looking for 100+ horses long-AP, but spotted 400 Brave Inca for the WH. If he goes for it he’s no better than 10/1 on the day, so you’re getting just shy of 40/1 for that to be his target. I know it looked as though he didn’t quite stay at Punchestown, but if they’ve seen fit to try 3m once, surely 40/1 to try again is good value?

October 8, 2007 at 14:02 #118511Horse Racing: Brave Inca ruled out for the season
Published: 29/08/2007 (Sport) By Tony O’Hehir
BRAVE INCA, the winner of nine Grade 1 races over hurdles, including the 2006 Champion Hurdle, has been ruled out for the season because of a slight tendon problem.
According to trainer Colm Murphy, the injury to Brave Inca’s near-foreleg was discovered recently, and while the initial reaction was that he might be able to go back in training around Christmas, the decision has been taken to miss the 2007-08 season with the nine-year-old.
Murphy said: "We had Brave Inca and a few of our other better horses checked out and scanned when they came in from grass and it was discovered that he had a minor tendon problem. There is no heat or swelling and we’re calling it five per cent damage.
"Because of the horse he is we’ve decided not to be tempted into rushing things and trying to have him back this season. He owes us absolutely nothing and we are happy that, given time, he will be back 100 per cent next season."
The winner of 12 hurdle races, Brave Inca won three Grade 1 events as a novice, including the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, during the 2003-04 season. After finishing third in the 2005 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham, he won the Emo Oil Champion Hurdle at Punchestown and finished off the year by landing the December Festival Hurdle at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting.
He brought his Grade 1 score to nine in 2006 when, in addition to the Smurfit Kappa-sponsored Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham, he landed the AIG Europe Champion Hurdle, the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle and the December Festival Hurdle.
Last season he finished second in the AIG Europe Champion Hurdle before again filling the runner-up spot behind Sublimity when defending his championship crown at Cheltenham. He ended the season by finishing sixth in the Champion Stayers’ Hurdle at the Punchestown festival on his first attempt at 3m.October 8, 2007 at 20:38 #118585not quite 100-1, but have had a bit on NEPTUNE COLLONGES at 60-1 for the gold cup. he was the youngest horse in last seasons gold cup aged 6, and was only beaten 12l. and to show that was no fluke he demolished a high class field at punchestown next race. with any progression from 6 to 7 years (like other french bred’s kauto star, exotic dancer) this will be a serious 3m chaser this year.
October 8, 2007 at 20:57 #118593Champion Hdl: Iktitaf (24.0)
Champion Ch: Jack The Giant (120.0)
Stayers Hdl: Aran Concerto (100.0)
Gold Cup: Ashley Brook (150.0)October 9, 2007 at 09:47 #118640Agree with Iktitaf but he isnt 100+
My pick would be Sporazene in the Champion Chase @ 150.0

You know the Jumps season is nigh when people start suggesting Sporazene for the Champion Chase. Should be four figures. Absolutely NAY chance at all. Should be 150’s to complete the course.
October 9, 2007 at 10:27 #118651Agree with Blazing Bailey, he is the one that i said i am looking forward to watching this season.
He was going really well against Wichita Lineman at Aintree when he fell.
He also seems to be quite consistent.
Will definately be interesting.
Will Straw Bear pick up any decent form again in you guys’ opinion? ? ?
October 9, 2007 at 10:30 #118652Kauto – I think you mean Black Harry

Hi mate.
I cant remember what the horse was called, black and white stripe colours though, i remember him and Wichita Lineman taking on eachother from a long way out. I think that was the race where Blazing Bailey fell at one of the hurdles.

Massini’s Maguire took Wichita Lineman on at Aintree but both completed with Chief Dan George trumping them both.
Blazing Bailey fell in the race that Mighty Man won.
October 9, 2007 at 12:38 #118683Ah yeh sorry guys im getting confused lol.
It was Massini’s Maguire and Wichita Lineman.
