He got quite a bump after the last didn’t he? Only saw it side on once, though.

The head-on clearly showed that it was Zarkandar who bumped into Melodic Rendezvous. Jacob had his whip in the wrong hand and I was surprised he didn’t receive a caution at least.

Didn’t think Zark did anything wrong this time, though Jacob did. When ground is very heavy at Wincers you want to be on the stand side rail/hedge. Cardinal sin letting your opponent up the inner. Melodic Rendezvous is a good horse though.

Im suppose Im just questioning whether he is capable of battling quite like he used to. A year or so ago and he was a tough cookie to pass if he got you off the bridle. I thought he surrendered easy enough yesterday. Contrast his two meetings with the The New One also. Easy to see how that horse has made significant steps forward but that much. Also contrast his two runs with Annie Power where she disposed of him with a little more ease during the latter occasion in spite of being a couple of pounds better off. Again, she may just have come forward more but I just wonder if he has had a few hard races too many

I had similar thoughts on Zark’s other runs this season (as can be seen in my post on previous page). Though am giving the horse the benifit of the doubt Saturday, getting a bump etc… Overall, think you’re right SHL, not quite the temperament of old.

I agree with those who have suggested that some fight has gone out of Zarkandar this season.

Ever since he came to Britain he has been known as a real genuine grafter. Just short of the speed to win the top races over 2m, he has picked up some really good prizes over the years through sheer determination to win.

I have yet to see that Zarkandar this season. I think this is a real shame because I am a real fan of the horse.

I am hopeful that the step up in trip to 3 miles will make it less of a speed contest and his fighting qualities can come to the fore.
