I strongly doubt that Katchit will turn out to be another Detroit City, Katchit travels strongly so well through his races and hurdles terrifically. I reckon has has every chance to win the CH next year, even if the record of five year old does not read well.

August 23, 2007 at 20:47 #112350well i hope all goes well with return of noland… granit jack and neptune collonge
August 23, 2007 at 20:55 #112351Most looking forward to tho Ruby Walsh getting that pig Ouinophophia – apologies spelling – to win a big handicap – probably starting with the one Deserst Quest won last season (William Hill is it).
Given the connections, and given that the gelding – to my mind – probably needs regular changes of type of assignment to keep him halfway interested, I’ve presumed we’re far more likely to see Ouninpohja aimed at novices’ chases than handicap hurdles in 2007-8.
The nice novices’ chase at Market Rasen’s late September card has been one at which Nicholls has aimed horses he’s thought a fair bit of in recent seasons; and it would not surprise me one iota to see Mr Findlay’s hairiest mutt make his reappearance in that, and winning it, en route to a string of frustrating defeats snatched from the jaws of victory culminating in an unwilling half length second at Cheltenham.
…And if even half of that comes true, I’m slightly better than I thought.

August 23, 2007 at 23:04 #112360Three horses I’m looking forward to –
I’M SPARTICUS (Evan Williams)
Showed impressive gear changes from a moderate field off just 105 at Towcester in April. It may not have been the best move running a novice against seasoned campaigners at Market Rasen latest, when it looked as it somebody dropped him on his head but perhaps a step up in trip, you maybe seeing this horse greeting the winners enclosure.OTANTIQUE (Emma Lavelle)
A strong hunch Otantique maybe ahead of the handicapper but I’m looking forward to backing him in a Novices Handicap Chase (0-110) over 2m5fNOIR ET VERT (Ferdy Murphy)
It maybe the Durham National or the big one at Aintree but he looks to have a National with his name rubber stamped on. Only six-years-old but fences superb and clearly has stamina to last the journey.August 23, 2007 at 23:06 #112362Ebaziyan.
August 23, 2007 at 23:47 #112363Outside of the obvious I’m looking forward to seeing Helens Vision running over hurdles, she should be a force in novice events for Helen Lewis
August 24, 2007 at 08:55 #112378Hopefully Ossmoses is over whatever was ailing him last season and will mop up the major 4m+ prizes, despite him rising 11.
The staying chase division generally is a mouthwatering prospect

August 24, 2007 at 13:03 #112398Just heard few snippets here and there plus the record of Bumper winners at cheltenham recently hasnt been great..Hopefully i’m wrong
August 24, 2007 at 13:13 #112400Grays – do you not think Nicholls will be tempted by the William Hill off a mark 140 with the Pig, like he did with Desert Quest last season, or am i just looking fin hope of a way to recoup some losses from the County Hurdle form Cheltenham – i swear i could see brake lights on Ouninphoia as it skipped over the last in front that day. WOuld be the type of horse that wont take too kindly to Fences IMO – the beast is worse than a woman

Agreed without reservation.
Ossmoses’ age doesn’t worry me to any particular extent as much as the likelihood of him getting his prefered borderline unraceable ground, as for one of his age he has relatively few miles on the clock.
(N.B, Comparing horses to cars was an offence punishable by the withholding of access to food, water, natural light and other basic civil liberties at the Sportsman, but I think I just about get away with it here).

Probably not, if I’m entirely honest. I’m sure the Findlay portfolio of hurdlers is going to be suitably endowed with further expensive ex-Flat recruits that he can afford to let Ouninpohja graduate to the bigger obstacles sooner rather than later, and I’d be amazed if Nicholls hasn’t already pointed him at a few at Ditcheat close-season (Ouninpohja, that is, not Findlay – that would be slightly kinky).
Then again, if Ouninpohja has demonstrated zero aptitude or – perhaps more pertinently – enthusiasm for fences at home, connections’ hands may be forced.

August 24, 2007 at 21:00 #112441will be following furdy murphy’s another promise this year, especially over 2 and half miles. don’t think he’ll be all that well handicapped though, but will win some big races, peterbourgh chase in november must be high on the list.
