I just found a DVD of an episode from Wire In The Blood Series 4
which I forgot I downloaded! It was sooooo good!
I think Series 5 is starting over the on Wednesday for all you lucky Brits.July 9, 2007 at 11:12 #106835Not very much, as it happens.
My TV has been pretty much cabbaged ever since Virgin took over Telewest…………useless arseholes.
July 9, 2007 at 11:18 #106838We got a deal from Sky to get the movies for 3 months for £1 a month .. so we are watching quite a few films, Silent Hill last night, that was good.

Oh dear that doesn’t sound good – if only I understood it.
What is Telewest? Are they like a SKY Satelite tv station? Are you out in the sticks somewhere and can’t get very good reception?July 9, 2007 at 11:24 #106841At the moment I am watching nothing whatsoever at all – need total hush when I’m writing my articles, blog entries and such like.
How Mrs Column manages to do her coursework, invoices, tax returns etc. with all manner of action movies, music and whatever else blazing in the background defeats me entirely!

I was thinking of getting that out on DVD – the poster looked good! I might try it now I have a good review!

It must be a female thing GC – I have Itunes playing on the computer, the TV on in the background and the kids yelling blue murder everytime they leap into the pool – quiet little souls that they are.
July 9, 2007 at 15:25 #106889I have to recomend ‘House’.An American hospital drama starring Hugh Laurie as the pill popping, hilariously sarcastic and tactless Dr.Greg House. Constantly in battle with Hospital authorities over his behaviour, appearence, time keeping, prescription med addiction and the little matter of the millions of dollars he has cost them in the courtrooms. He leads a team of doctors who specialise in cases where patients are displaying symptoms but the cause of which is a mystery. Each episode is a race against time to save the patient’s life as Dr.House insults, offends and upsets his staff, his bosses and the patients and their families.
The show is not one where you have to watch it every week to follow the goings on, a big plus in my book. I’m not a fan of ‘Prison Break’ etc. where you must watch every week.
Living T.V, Hallmark and Channel6(Irish station) show it.
Any ways I’m a huge fan, it’s about the only thing with the exception of sport that I watch. Excellent stuff.
I’d be very interested to hear what anyone else who has seen it thinks.July 9, 2007 at 16:22 #106895I have to recomend ‘House’.An American hospital drama starring Hugh Laurie as the pill popping, hilariously sarcastic and tactless Dr.Greg House.
Five US, I think it is, is re-running these from the start at the moment. Me and Mrs Column caught the first of these and enjoyed it immensely, even if the effect of seeing Hugh Laurie in this role about an hour after watching him as Bertie Wooster on ITV3 was a bit disconcerting.
Favourite bit of dialogue from that show:
[i:fdyi1x50][House is popping pills]
Patient: What is that? What are you taking?
Dr. Gregory House: Painkillers.
Patient: Oh, for your… for your leg.
Dr. Gregory House: No, ’cause they’re yummy! Want some?[/i:fdyi1x50]gc

July 9, 2007 at 17:30 #106920.. heffo, I’ve seen ‘House’ twice and I thought it was very good and quite unusual, I think I’d get a bit fed up of that kind of humour after a bit though .. I went through a phase of watching CSI, but that’s passed and I’m okay now ..
July 10, 2007 at 20:55 #107226Fortunately, I still get the Beeb, and I’m off to watch the rather excellent documentary on Paris that they’re running.
The bird who presents it has a bit of a ropey bugle, but otherwise she’s all va-va-voom.
Top veiwing.
July 10, 2007 at 21:45 #107237Hugh Laurie’s American accent is endlessly fascinating. He was better in Jeeves and Wooster, but House is pretty solid entertainment.
This week I have been mostly watching the West Wing (Series 6) on DVD. They went through a dodgy patch around the time of 9/11 but this is back to their best.

July 10, 2007 at 22:51 #107257She’s got a nose like Kenneth Williams, Davros……..but she makes it work somehow.
July 10, 2007 at 23:13 #107264As you can probably guess from the avatar, I’m still grieving for the loss of Life on Mars. Best show on the TV for years IMO.
Still Game starts on Thursday again, so I’ll watch that, but by the looks of the trailer I’m worried that it’s going to get a bit ridiculous.

Still Game is definitely a ‘grower’. Not gut-wrenchingly funny, but makes me smile.I enjoyed Fonejacker the other night which surprised me as I had thought the concept a little feeble.

I loved Life On Mars! I really liked the ending too but I don’t know how they’ll go with a third series becasue Sam isn’t in it is he? (Is he?)
