Inspiral withdrawing from the Queen Anne, King of Steel & White Birch out of the Prince of Wales and now most importantly, Vandeek out of the Commonwealth has all but killed my excitement for the meeting.
Between those 4, I must have 12 antepost acca’s down as of today. Had some absolutely cracking prices to look forward to as well.

I didn’t have her backed but Falling Angel’s withdrawal has taken the shine off the Coronation too.

Bucanero Fuerte, Passenger and Emily Upjohn other notable nr’s.

These modern thoroughbreds really are made of glass.

Blue sky, sunshine and day one what’s not to like. Four Group 1 races but only betting in the King Charles III and maybe the St Jame’s Palace. Everyone enjoy :good:

I think I’ve probably (definitely) been far too negative about the racing of late and having had a bit of self-reflection last night I’m trying to do too much with the betting and being very busy at work and having a young family and trying to catch bits of the euros. You get it, we’re all busy. Point is I’m going to step back from the betting this week and try and get back to enjoying the sport for what it is by just watching it. If I can’t enjoy all these group 1’s without having a bet I’m probably destined to fall out of love with it soon because reality is at this stage of my life I don’t have the time to study all the form and make informed bets.

Good luck to all of you this week, I’ll probably be quite quiet on here given the time side, would have loved to enter the competitions but I’d literally just be picking names for some of the 2yo races I haven’t watched a 2yo race all season.

Rarely bother with the 2yo races.

Day 1 disaster for me and to cap it I talked myself out of Pledgeofallegiance
New day and new hopes tomorrow.

About £300 spend, about £300 return. Too much faith in Joey O’Brien, Israr saved me. Looking forward to Illinois tomorrow, excellent form line.

Day four and 24 races. I only bet to win and in the 15 races I have bet in, not a bean. Looking forward to Sunday now.

I think I heard the other day on one of those Racing Post shows there were something like 150 horses running on a day and only 7 of them can be winners. So much has tto go right to land a winner in some of these races. Wouldn’t take it personally RTB its a tough week.

If you backed all them 150 horses you’d be in profit right now, I’m guessing

I’d imagine if you backed every horse in the 2yo races you’d be in profit at least. ;-)

If I was to hypothesise why its so tough, you rarely get any open goals at Ascot. Rodin and Kyprios probably had close to open goals and neither of them won by far. In the end Inisherin had quite an easy task but it didn’t look it at the antepost stage. Look at that Jersey Stakes today, if that was run at Cheltenham with River Tiber and Haatem in there with their form it would be a 5 runner job. They’ve still got huge chances of course but the fact they’ve got each other and 18 others and potentially the draw to beat alone makes it less straightforward.

Thoroughly depressed now that is the first time I have never backed a winner through a racing festival
Still some good racing and well done to all those that backed some good priced winners.

I thought i’d see how I enjoyed it without having any bets (not strictly true as I’d backed a couple antepost) and in truth of the 35 races I probably enjoyed 7 or 8 of them from a pure racing perspective and they were mostly the Group 1s which had some good tussles. Nothing amazing really though, most of them were just confirming what they’d shown before. The Chesham winner looked pretty special but who knows how she’ll develop. The sprints are still dreadful standards. Most of the 2yo winners looked below average.
