Song Of The Siren, recorded live on The Monkeys TV Show or cover by This Mortal Coil / Liz Frazer
A classic and deeply moving song.

July 9, 2010 at 17:18 #305685Gosh, someone citing Mama Cass – I’ve got a soulmate. I get Hyper when I play Make Your Own Kind Of Music.
Anyway, here are two of Britain’s most consummate entertainers of the past half century performing together:-
July 15, 2010 at 02:26 #306527July 16, 2010 at 13:45 #306832Thanks for that Ivanjica. I’m not very adventurous, and consequentially quite ignorant, but I’ll delve into all that Japonica next week.
A couple of days ago I was thinking that I liked both The Seekers’ and Linda Ronstadt’s versions of "It doesn’t matter anymore", so I did a search to see who else had covered the song. Came across this teeneage family in Washington DC/ Maryland, The Verbas. Their original songs seem to have lyrics mainly provided by the father. Quite like this song, The Hero, a lot. However, its had less than 500 views in 5 months. Is it a good song? I don’t have any taste.
July 16, 2010 at 13:55 #306837This one is especially for Big Buck’s
July 16, 2010 at 16:02 #306871The Verbas are a good band ain’t they? This seems to be a powerful song, but it again has only had less than 500 plays after 8 months.
July 16, 2010 at 17:14 #306885I really, really enjoy my Friday afternoons . . . but I have no one to share them with
July 16, 2010 at 17:26 #306886Gosh, that was a bit weird. I’m now on my sixth can of Stella, and I’ve just heard Mary sing There’s No Business Like Show Business. Still like Ethel better – "I just open my mouth, and hollah".
July 16, 2010 at 17:52 #306887I’m outta here

July 20, 2010 at 09:29 #307448I quite enjoy a bit of Wagner now and again.
July 21, 2010 at 16:05 #307759OK! So, not many keen on Wagner.
How about a bit of sinister ballet?July 21, 2010 at 16:53 #307774Ellie Goulding…Fine all round
July 21, 2010 at 17:46 #307780I’ve been Spring cleaning the living room today, which has given me a chance to watch the Glastonbury highlights and listen to some cd’s. Must say I was very impressed with Ellie Goulding, who was on just after Florence and the Machine, who I can’t stand [think she’s pretencious]. Then went on to re listen to Laura Marling’s ‘I Speak Because I Can’, which I’ve been quite diappointed with since I bought it, and now think it’s lovely. Funny how you can listen to something a few times and not like it, and then give it one more go and it sounds completely different. And, because various family members will be returning home soon, I played Arcade Fire’s ‘Funeral’ very loud [which I’m not allowed to do when there are people here]..and I’ve probably got time to play it very loud again before they arrive. Great for dusting to…..

This song a perfect example.
July 21, 2010 at 21:07 #307817cant resist another from Nottingham’s finest – there is so much rubbish talked about music these days. We are in a golden era!
