Yes, Rubylight, nearly 30k for being the only finisher, that is the sort of racing that resulted in the re-mounting rule.
February 17, 2016 at 12:05 #1233985Like Mike I’m bemused by all this. Like others have said it’s quite simple. A bet was placed, the horse started the race but didn’t finish, lost bet – simple. Why anyone should think they should get their mony back baffles me.
Let me help you a little bit.
In a tricast race with only two finishers the tricast dividend returned equals the forecast dividend for any other horse you have to finish third, after correctly picking the first two and only finishers of the race.
For example you do tricast bets like 1-2-3 and 1-2-7. Now, there are only two finishers in the race in which 1 beats 2. What is your payout? You get 2 times the forecast dividend paid out. Although there is no other third placed horse in the race.
What happens in a five runner race where there is only one finisher? The win dividend equals the forecast dividend. If you pick the no. 5 horse to beat the no. 1 and no. 3 horses and no. 5 is the only finisher, you will get paid out the forecast dividend twice.
Let me ask why people get paid out in a forecast or even in a tricast with less finishers than required, but not for a place?????
Looking forward for numerous replies…..Well here’s my reply. Let me help you a little bit.
Here are Ladbrokes rules for tricasts and forcasts:
In races where only 1 horse finishes, forecast bets with the correct 1st place horse will be paid as an SP single on that selection. All other forecast bets will be losers.
In races where fewer than 3 horses finish, tricast bets will be settled as follows:When only 2 horses finish, tricast bets with the 1st and 2nd in the correct order will be paid as forecast winners. All other tricast bets will be losers.
When only 1 horse finishes, tricast bets with the correct 1st place horse will be paid as an SP single on that selection. All other tricast bets will be losers.
I think other bookmakers are the same. You also seem to forget that a place was paid for the winner. If the place betting was void what happens to those who bet EW on the winner? Is their bet void or do they get paid for the place? Don’t think they would be happy if their place bt was voidd when they were correct.
February 17, 2016 at 16:03 #1234043Thanks for the explanation Kenh. I somehow forgot that the winner was also paid out for being placed.
February 19, 2016 at 23:01 #1234406No doubt the ground at Haydock tomorrow will be terrible but is it just me who’s bitterly disappointed that their Grand National trial only has 8 runners? In the good old days when this race was the Greenall Whitley Gold Cup (and its different incarnations)it was a far better race and had a lot more runners.
