Really impressed with Timmy Murphy’s ride on Broughtons Star in the NH flat race at Huntingdon today.
Despite the horse being a springer in the market he never panicked and held him together, just hands and heels and still prevailed.
Certainly won’t have left a mark on the horse. Brilliant.

The horse kept on well, especially just under hands and heels from Timmy Murphy.

I was really impressed with his ride on Ashkazar at Wincanton at the weekend, before Ashkazar tired and folded.

Timmy is one of the best at displaying patience from the saddle.

    Brilliant hold up jockey

This couldn’t be further from the truth. You show me 10 winners he has won in this fashion and I will show you 100 where he hasn’t won. He is one of the worst judges of paces I’ve ever known… he holds his horses way too far back.

He isn’t even a serious jockey is he? How many winners does he ride these days? He gets jocked up simply for the reason you started this thread, he gives horses a very good educational ride – like he did on the Huntingdon Bumper winner today.

Have to agree to disagree One Eye
As for not being a serious jockey – he has ridden at least 7 winners in the last month that I can think of , since returning from a serious injury and operation. You have to take into account his pricipal employer David Johnston has a much scaled back string of horses nowadays
