So a complete mess, Cobbs getting stuffed at home, Banbury conceding 2 goals to a former player, Brackley manage to scrap a draw.
Hope that Cobbs get a new manager in before the next match, crowds not happy. Be good to cancel Xmas day off and make the players work a bit.
December 23, 2024 at 07:26 #1716098Rumour mill has a suggested players called in for a 9am meeting today and Kevin Nolan has appeared in the betting at 1/2. Although he is at 10/1 for the Gas also.
Not inspired by this, but beggars cant be choosers.December 23, 2024 at 15:06 #1716143Nolan confirmed, best of a bad lot I suppose.
New Manager bounce please..
December 24, 2024 at 13:47 #1716242Away to Reading on the 26th 3/1 away win, will look at this on the day.
My interest was taken by the match on the 29th away to bottom placed Shrewsbury, skibets 15/8 and Freds are 5/2 for the away win. Ill take a chance on the squad being up for this, Nolan may have lost the dressing room after the first match and the injury list will be longer, but to avoid relegation and keep the top half table finish dream alive, this is a must win game. A draw or a win at Reading and there wont be 5/2 so..
10@5/2 away win.-107
December 26, 2024 at 11:11 #1716330Warrington Town at home for the Sandgrounders today. A team they have already defeated twice this season in Cup competitions. We could do with a win after a disappointing time since early November.
One or two fans have even been calling for Jim Bentley’s head but I think that is an over reaction. There have been injuries and suspensions and some tough away fixtures at Curzon Ashton, King’s Lynn and Kidderminster.
I think it is the poor 0-0 draws at home to Marine and Needham Market that have angered the fans. Hopefully they can get a better result today, assuming the game is on. I am at Aintree in the fog!
December 26, 2024 at 14:27 #1716384Brackley home to Leamington home win is 8/11
Redditch V Banbury away win is 13/5
5@5.21Reading V Northampton, a few missing for the Cobblers today.
Sticking with Guthrie anytime scorer is 12/1
5@12sReading has never been good hunting ground for us, so Correct score of 3-1 @11/1

overall -120December 26, 2024 at 14:29 #1716385Hope you have a decent day at Aintree CAS.
I did see you have a difficult run of fixtures over the holidays, so good luck for today.
December 26, 2024 at 19:31 #1716445Unlucky with the 3-1 Landafar
Bristol Rovers still in freefall
Taunton have won the last two games though after a bad run including beating Tiverton 3-0 away today…
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 27, 2024 at 16:06 #1716624Nathan, the cash out was looked at, but not taken. Charlie Savage scored the third goal according to his dad on 606 last night it was a worldie..
..
Definitely have problems with injuries, 18 out of 33 unavailable including the main goalkeeper, the #2 aint upto much and #3 is the youth team keeper. Against Reading there were 4 youth team players on the bench, so its not looking good at present. Hopefully there’s some money for the January transfer window, but the Cobblers typical cycle is 2 or 3 years in League 1, then League 2. Maybe, just maybe there are four teams worse than the Cobbs..perhaps the Gas will take one of the relegation places with their new overseas manager
Brackley won and Banbury played well for a draw, they may score soon

Great result for Taunton, still a few places of the play offs though. I see Plymouth Parkway won 6-0, all scored by the same player. Falmouth V Mousehole must have been a good match 1110 in attendance, I only mention that as I have camped at Mousehole before and had a good chat with the Barman in the club house, they have ambitions and are building a youth structure for the future.
Nice result for Southport CAS, 2-0 and you had Potters Charm
I wouldn’t be worrying about not seeing him until the winning line. Thats the best place..
December 28, 2024 at 12:37 #1716772Southern League Premier Central is the game for today:
Banbury Utd V St Ives Town (Thats the Cambridgeshire one)Banbury have score 7 goals in 10 home matches this season and St Ives have scored 10 goals in 10 away league matches.
The Puritans have signed a new striker ..
Correct score 3-1 home win, 2@14s
-122December 28, 2024 at 19:30 #1716887A lack of footie today, thus the correct score Puritans bet, which lost. Although it was a 1-0 home win which keeps them above the drop zone. The new striker was removed at half time, and a deflected goal won the match late into the second half.
Cobbs away to the Shrews tomorrow..a night of reflection and study for the match.
December 28, 2024 at 20:41 #1716893Thanks, L. The fog made it a bit different at Aintree but it was good to see Potters Charm emerge from the gloom in front and pay for Christmas. I haven’t been betting on horses much recently, so it was nice to land a good bet again.
It was a good result for Southport. It seems to have silenced the posters on the fan forum who have been calling for Jim to be sacked.
Next is away at Chester on New Year’s Day, then Southend in the FA Trophy before Leamington at home on the 11th January. I would be satisfied with a point at Chester but would like to see us beat Leamington. They have been struggling recently.
My local non league team South Liverpool played today. They were 2-0 down with 7 minutes to go and won 3-2. I hope no one left early!
December 29, 2024 at 14:35 #1716952Probably in the Bar CAS..
Shrewsbury away is a fixture that has good memories for me. Way back in 1993, last game of the season in the old 4th division (3rd at the time) Shrewsbury are champions, Cobbs are bottom 3 points behind Darlington. Half time the Shrews lead 2-0 and Darlington are drawing, 2nd half Cobblers stage the comeback of dreams. With the last goal being one of the greatest goals of all time scored by Pat Gavin. Gavin who had already netted once in the second half to make the scores level, charged down the Shrews goalkeepers clearance, where by the ball hit his back side and trickled over the goal line to win the game 2-3. Unfortunately Darlington scored to win their match and Northampton finished bottom and non league beckoned. Lucky the Football League decided that the Kidderminster ground was not up to the required standard. So the result didnt really mater in the end, but the emotions were flowing in those final minutes.
Anyway.
Upthread Id bet away win and Ill stupidly add the following, note we did have 5 corners in the first half against Reading so sooner or probably later Guthrie should get one.1-2 away win 8@12/1
Guthrie First Goal 2@33/1
Guthrie Any time 5@14/1
-15-135
December 30, 2024 at 20:26 #1717081Guthrie had two chances, obviously needs new boots.
I forgot about Arron Pierre ex cobbs player..typically he scores first at 33s.
Good draw for us, but I think (Im not good at thinking), we should have won.
Stevenage at home next, their manager another former Cobbs player..at least he cant score.
Full fixtures new years day, Brackley at Oxford City and Banbury home to Alvechurch.
Happy New year
December 31, 2024 at 19:43 #1717166Early kick of in Oxford tomorrow for the visit of Brackley.
Brackley 13/10 for the away win.
Banbury 11/8 for the home win.
Win double is 4.46/1
5 @4.46 for the double.-140
December 31, 2024 at 20:05 #1717170A couple of early punts on the Cobbs for tomorrow, Guthrie 1st goal 2.5 @ 33/1 and Guthrie anytime 5 @16s
-147.5.More stupid bets to follow after a few drinks.
January 1, 2025 at 14:29 #1717275I just cant let 4-1 home win at 125/1 go without a £1 on it, add 3-0 home win 1 at 50/1.
Banbury’s match PP.
