I really enjoyed today , Ascot and Haydock , just sublime from pillar to post , a smashing watch for the whole afternoon
I cannot remember being any way nearly as happy with any day on the flat this year …the buzz today was mighty
I give you one memory ,,,,the horse who made all at Haydock , ridden by a slip of a girl …and found more at the end of 3 hard grueling miles ,,,
More please , this jumping game keeps me addicted ,,, I am loving it …even after close to 50 years of following it , the same thrill and excitement abounds
November 22, 2014 at 17:24 #496113My favourite time of the year for racing between the Paddy power meeting up to Tingle Creek day. 4 weekends of top class jump racing

Spot on ricky starting with Polisky throwing the race away in dramatic fashion at Ascot, impressive performances from Al Ferov, The New One and Faugheen, the heartwarming win of Aubusson and impressive Silviniaco Conti reminded me why I love jumps racing so much, smashing
November 22, 2014 at 20:17 #496141A great afternoons sport, goes from one top card to another on Saturdays this time of the year.
November 22, 2014 at 21:03 #496149Fantastic racing and that is why NH is wat ahead of the boring flat.
Can’t wait for the Hennesey meting next weekNovember 22, 2014 at 22:08 #496156Absolutely. To paraphrase that great racing sage, Richard Pitman, ‘This is what Autumn is all about’ – cracking racing. Sadly I’ve missed being at Haydock today, being in
Navan, but will miss Navan (Troytown Chase Day) tomorrow as will be on plane home !Impressed with Silvianaco Conti today. Less impressed with Taquin de Seuil. Wonder if there is something up with him.
November 22, 2014 at 22:57 #496158Yeah. I backed Aubusson on New Years Day but deserted him today for Big Easy. But it was Aubusson and Lizzie I was shouting for all the way up the straight. What other sport would have you supporting against the result you’ve put your hard earned on….
Cracking day’s sport.
November 22, 2014 at 23:11 #496161I agree. I liked
Aubusson
‘s performance in the "Fixed brush" today. He could make an interesting career over fences.
Also, earlier in the afternoon
Big Hands Harry
ran a terrible race in the 3m handicap over fences. His jumping quality was as bad as it could be. He constantly jumped on his left, but his surge at the end was outstanding… Then there was
Croco Bay
which isn’t a top-class horse either but his performance was a delight to see.
That was definitely a great afternoon of racing.
November 23, 2014 at 11:38 #496212Agreed completely chaps. Didn’t have a bet on yesterday but thought was a terrific advert for the sport. Top class jump racing.
How people prefer the flat is beyond me.
November 23, 2014 at 12:01 #496217Compelling racing for sure. A beautiful afternoon.
Topped off nicely watching Derby entrant
Malaf
get hammered into 8/11 at Wolves and do it nicely after a tardy start. The fourth home,
Stay Strong
(360 grand as a yearling), stayed on for a respectable fourth on debut.
Some very nice horses running on the all weather these days.
November 24, 2014 at 15:43 #496306No personal wish to dignify any Flat-bashing, having enjoyed the Lingfield card (not least the Listed trials for next Easter) rather more than anything Cheltenham and Wetherby conjured the previous weekend (but in turn having enjoyed Balthazar King at jumps HQ the day before even more the Lingfield ).
Be that all as it may: Aubusson’s victory at Haydock gladdened the heart this particular weekend just gone more than anything else that surrounded it. Lizzie Kelly remained impressively cool throughout as the challengers started to loom, and the "They’re only men sitting on horses" put-down after the race was delicious. That they are, Lizzie, and you rode them to sleep.
On a technical level that was probably the most accomplished I can remember seeing Aubusson over hurdles, taking the race as a whole. Could the mini-fence appearance of the fixed brushes have played its part in that? I could be quite easily persuaded on that score – there was a degree of accomplishment over the obstacles there that hasn’t always been as apparently, especially late on in a race under maximum pressure.
Doubt Jane Williams is any more disposed towards running him in the World Hurdle than previously, but granted the same C&D (sort of, allowing for the vagaries of which track they’ll be using come February!) and similar ground, I could see the gelding skate up in the Rendlesham Hurdle on Trial day there – assuming the return to more conventional hurdles doesn’t wrong-foot him.
