Rainbow View -Pure class
Paco Boy -Will win loadsa big races next year
These are the only 2 to excite
me so far for next yearMarch 22, 2009 at 23:53 #217919Afew others worth a mention who may be overlooked.
Elusive Wave
– Only beaten once, when a fast finishing 2nd in the Marcel Boussac, could be the pouliches winner if staying in france. A potentially very smart horse who may have slipped under the radar because of that one defeat.
Cityscape
Didnt quite last home in a fast paced royal lodge won by Jukebox Jury, still loked incredibly smart, has a bit of class about him and should be very good this season at 1 mile to 1m2f.
Shaweel
Would like to see him have a stab at the Poulains and Prix Jockey Club as think he looks the sort for it.
Huntdown
Think this one needs a fast surface and could be smart when he gets it.
Dreamtheimpossible
Progressive mare who never failed to place at 2yo, including a 3rd to Rainbow View in the Fillies Mile, looked like she would come on a lot physically over the winter and could be something yet.
Does anyone know if Frozen Fire is still in training, he could be one for the king george I think.
March 23, 2009 at 00:01 #217921Frozen Fire still in training, Bulwark
Was part of the racecourse gallops today at the Curragh
March 23, 2009 at 00:09 #217926Nive one – Fast ground/1m4f looked to be what he done best las season so King George could be his race this year. Likewise with eagle Mountain if he comes over as he could be a nice one for the Prince Wales, Eclipse and King George. Anyone heard what De Kocks plans are for him this season?

Sounds like he’ll be campaigned over here after the injury from what I read, which will be fantastic. The King George is already shaping up to be one hell of a race.
Eagle Mountain, Frozen Fire, Conduit, Youmzain, Tartan Bearer, Doctor Freemantle?
March 23, 2009 at 00:25 #217941Youmzain deserves to pick up a king george or an arc by now, hopefully he gets a bit of cut in the King George. Think the international could be worth a stab this year too with him, as long as they dont move it to newmarket again.
March 23, 2009 at 00:33 #217945Was gutted when I backed Tartan Bearer in last years Derby and that dretched New Approach beat it by a nose
March 23, 2009 at 03:02 #217971This year’s middle-distance WFA will be stronger, and Youmzain won’t find it any easier to win a King George than previous attempts.
Simply because Coolmore don’t seem to have a flagbearer in the older division this year. I’m not dismissing something coming from the shadows (Washington Irving) but it’s a much more competitive division.
The CC I’m referring to is Casual Conquest. I think he is short of enough stamina for the King George but he is a potential top-liner at 1m2f.
Sir Michael Stoute has an embarrassment of riches this year. Tartan Bearer, Conduit, Tajaaweed, Doctor Fremantle, Ask among others.
March 23, 2009 at 04:41 #217977Lets not forget Pipedreamer and Twice Over who are also sure to be decent contenders in places this season.
Twice Over on softened ground could be ideal for middle distances. Pipedreamer looks like a decent miler for this year for me

It depends on the ground Myles, if it is good then it may just ask too much for one to beat him, only Zarkava and Dylan Thomas have beaten him on KG and Arc day when the ground has been good. He is very good horse on those conditions and if he gets them in the king george he’ll be hard to hold off.
Saying that, Golan finished second in the derby to galileo before going on to be 3rd in the irish derby, then he came back and won the following year’s king george. Last year his full brother Tartan Bearer finished 2nd to a son of galileo at epsom before going on to finish thrid in the irish derby, so perhaps history could repeat itself in the king george.
March 24, 2009 at 03:45 #218123Myles,
On the RP site today:
Aidan O’Brien has entered five horses in the 1m2f Tattersalls Gold Cup, includingSeptimus and Frozen Fire, while Godolphin’s five-strong entry includes Campanologist and Rio De La Plata.
The race could be an early season objective for Casual Conquest, who was placed in both the English and Irish Derbys last year and is set to work at Leopardstown next Monday. He has not raced since finishing second to Frozen Fire in the Irish Derby in late June.
"He’s grand and working very well. He’s going to work at Leopardstown a week today, the day after the races," said owner Moyglare Stud’s racing manager Stan Cosgrove.
"He’s done well over the winter and I suppose you’d have to think of the Tattersalls Gold Cup."
Casual Conquest, trained by Dermot Weld, hit the headlines last spring when winning the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown by six lengths before finishing third to New Approach at Epsom.
March 24, 2009 at 04:17 #218125Good, good. All good. He will have derived plenty of benefit from 6-9 months worth of development, as I thought he was a little green in the Derby.
I also think he’ll need a run or two to settle in, and for my sake to assess his progress. I don’t think he’s complicated though.
March 25, 2009 at 01:42 #218236More of a National Hunt man myself but I’ve been doing alright on the flat over the last few years. Here’s my two cents anyway:
– Arazan
– Black Bear Island
– Leocorno
– Malibu Bay

Won the imprudence today under different, more confident tactics to last year where she was beaten by proportional, when held up, could yet be the pouliches winner.
April 11, 2009 at 18:01 #221325Bushranger a 7f Jersey stakes type
Erm, Gordon, isn’t Bushranger ineligible for the Jersey Stakes, because he has already won a Group 1, or are 2yo Gp1s excluded?
April 11, 2009 at 18:03 #221326Kingsgate Native, Overdose, Fleeting Spirit, Captain Gerrard, Equiano. Sir Gerry.
Oops, 6.

No Gerald you are quite right, well spotted! I do see him as a 7f horse though!
