Anyone have an idea? Bob Bob Bobbin has been raised just 8 lb for pulling 30 lengths clear of the third at Bangor when clear with Distant Thunder last time. That form looks rock solid, he’ll look something off a good thing off 142 I reckon.
November 16, 2006 at 16:51 #31110DJ – entries close on Nov 22nd. I guess the weights will be published the following week.
November 16, 2006 at 16:54 #31111Thanks HJ.
November 16, 2006 at 22:57 #31112Thanks HJ.. was wondering when the weights were published… Just checked the form on BBB and yep "a real Welsh National type". Likes it soft which is essential for Chepstow and as long as he gets a light weight (around 10-7) then he’ll be a live contender… ;)
November 17, 2006 at 14:30 #31113how about laventure?
looks like she is going to be kept fresh for the race, loves the trip and soft ground, won last year, wont have much weight if state of play, one knight and sir rembrandt take there chance.
November 17, 2006 at 15:47 #31114yep another live contender Dave.. she did me a big favour ante post last year .. ;)
According to stable interviews she’ll be aimed at the race again. We’ll need to see what weight she gets as as the handicapper knows all about her talents (4th 2004, 1st 2005)
November 17, 2006 at 20:00 #31115
There’s an oddity in the conditions for the Welsh National. As HJ reported, entries close on Wed Nov 22nd and that would normally mean weights published the following Wednesday based on the ratings update of Tues 28th.
But the penalty clause in the race conditions states – ‘Penalties, after November 24th, a winner 5lbs’.
This would suggest that the weights will be based on the ratings that apply on the date of entry, thus ensuring that the winner of the Hennessy on the 25th will have the option of running at Chepstow with just a 5lb penalty, rather than off his revised mark.
The same penalty provision would also apply for the winner of £60,000 Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle, run on the same day as the Hennessy.
