“punishment for anyone found guilty is an afternoon tea with gingertipster”

This is why Chezza never even dreams of transgressing – that’s some deterrent.

“I’d hazard a guess it’s because 25/1 was no longer available when he made the posting.”

It was for a little while but not with everybody.

I’m probably not the only person finding that incredibly hard to believe.

Ante-post markets are routinely suspended during races which are relevant to them.

Claiming to have obtained a now out-of-date, no longer available, price seconds after a horse has flashed past the post to win easily isn’t the best of looks for an area of the forum which IMO overall has the highest standards of legitimate ante-post debate.

And I can’t be alone in thinking that as it wasn’t me that flagged up the posting.

To paraphrase a long-standing betting industry term regarding aftertiming: “we’re not at home to Mr ‘Back-Board Price,’ thank you!”

Ian I have had this conversation before with a couple of other folk on here, and I will say the same to you…

There is little point in me saying an untruth about the price I have got, the horse hasn’t run in the race yet and just because I got a reasonable price that doesn’t mean the horse will win. Something I will try not to do is say after the race has run that I backed it or got a reasonable price, I would do my best to refrain from that, to me, that isn’t such a good look. People are entitled to their own opinions, its a forum after all, I will carry on adding my picks as and when as per usual. Thanks for listening.

Mike- nobody was 25-1 after yesterday’s race. I know, because I was impressed by the mare and looked for a price myself. That’s why people take your posts with a pinch of salt.

It was Gladiateur, bet placed on the 3rd December 2022 at 15:41 pm. :o)

    Wot Gladders said.^

I find most views here interesting, Mike’s included, but honestly, trying to get a back board price, or claiming to have got a back board price, just after a horse hosed up is as old as the hills and PITIFUL.

The mare was cut to 8/1 best for the Welsh National after she won yesterday, no one was still offering 25/1 and they’d have been sacked if they had.

It’s market suspended for ante-post races whenever a listed runner is in action, it’s standard betting industry practice.

Let’s hope we all go on to have grown-up discussions from now on and put childish fantasy aside once and for all.

Alternatively, I’ll top the lot of you – I just got 8/1 Shergar for the 1981 Derby, the price it briefly was after it won ten lengths at Sandown Park!

If you want to do aftertiming and outrageous backboard price claims, no one does it like Chezza!

I’ll say it again, I backed Quick Wave at 25-1 on the 3rd December 2022 at 15:41 pm. There is nothing pitiful about it.

Lossiemouth went 12-1 to 5-1 immediately after today’s race, using your argument I could’ve said 12-1 and posted that. So why didn’t I? I’ll tell you why, because that wasn’t the price I got :o)

On Twitter they’d be saying “screen grab or it didn’t happen” by now.

Gents, without wishing to wade in on others’ arguments, I know for a fact 25s was available post race for a while.

I know, because I took it myself. At 15.55 to be exact. It was with Quinn bet.

Now I’ve no idea whether Mike is telling porkies, whether Mike regularly tells porkies, or whether he used the same bookmaker… but some firms are slow sometimes to change odds, and some don’t suspend races especially if a race isn’t an obvious trial for another.

Nice one FrankieMac for managing to get on.

“Now I’ve no idea whether Mike is telling porkies, whether Mike regularly tells porkies”

Answer is no on both counts.

I don’t know about this particular race but I do follow Mikes betting on big races, Nationals in particular, and he is very good at getting good ante post prices for these sort of races.

Well, I’ve said what I think and I stand by it.

As for getting on at back board priced with minor outfits who are allegedly too sloppy to suspend their ante-post markets, good luck with getting paid in full if the horse actually wins because they can always claim palpable error – 25/1 was quite simply the wrong price AFTER she had won at Sandown Park.

Getting back to the actual race, 33/1 Truckers Lodge with William Hill might look big if it ends up testing ground and it turns up, especially if Freddie Gingell is claiming 7lb on it.

The ground ended up too quick for the combo at Haydock Park, as Protektorat’s earlier time attests.

Ian, there is no reason that they won’t honour the bets. Not all markets get suspended after every race by everyone 100% of the time and at the same time. Just because that price you felt was wrong post race, doesn’t mean it wasn’t available to some people. And the bookie that i used wasn’t the kind of outfit that you described and if the horse does manage to win i expect i’ll be paid :o)
