June 30, 2011 at 12:34 #362951Coral Charge – MARGOT DID 7/1 £5.00 Each/Way 1/4 odds, 3 places.
Match Bet between Canford and Frankel – CANFORD CLIFFS 6/4 £10.00 win
I didn’t realise Margot Did was down to run Saturday until I noticed Kingfisher had put her up on his thread, I wont thank him yet will wait till she bolts up.
I’ve always had a liking for her but she has under achieved really imo losing plenty of races she should won. Hooray has a group 1 to her name over 6 furlongs but I rate Margot Did better than her over 5 and 6 f. Although Margot was frustrating in her races she always showed a turn of foot to go with a good cruising speed and since switching to 5f the penny seems to have dropped to run her more handy to accommodate her 6f stamina which combined with her 5f speed has seen her win her last 2 the 1st of those was C@D from gate 1, drawn 10 this time is a slight worry but the moneys down now so no point in worrying.
I’m not going to say too much about Canford and Frankel only that I think a few will be surprised about how good an engine and stamina Canford processes, the faster the races is run the better. Being part owned by Coolmore they will probably adopt a pacemaker same as in the Queen Anne to ensure a decent gallop then let Frankel if Queally plays it cool to take over wherever he wants to as I expect if the pace of the race is fast than Canford will pick him off with ease. Besides you cant turn 6/4 about the 2011 TRF horse of the year down in a match bet can you?

June 30, 2011 at 12:40 #362954Good tipping Nathan, keep it up
Are you worried about the drift on Workforce, or do you think it’s just a result of the So You Think gamble?
June 30, 2011 at 12:52 #362958More baffled than worried Tommy. I think So You Think has trip and possibly ground now going to be in his suit but still think Workforce is a match for him over 10f with a fast run race and his sharper turn of foot. I think is a case of a gamble on SYT, O’Brien being on fire sending out winners for fun plus all the talk of Stoute’s recent form which has caused the drift but the thing is are his horses running badly? Plenty of 2nds plus I thought the run of Carlton House in the Irish Derby was a sign of good form as I didn’t think the horse would be suited to the Curragh’s track but still put in a good performance although his supporters would of been disappointed.
Should be a cracker Tommy, looking forward to it.

June 30, 2011 at 13:47 #362966Yeah I wouldn’t read too much into Stoute’s form either to be honest, his horses are running well enough. He hasn’t had a winner in a while but the likes of Fiorente and Carlton House have run very well. The 15/8 seems huge about a runaway Derby winner and Arc winner, horses with as much class as Workforce shouldn’t struggle over 10 furlongs. I’ve no doubt he’s better over 12, but 10 should be fine.
However, the one image I can’t get out of my head is that of So You Think tanking into the lead at Ascot, it was one of those ‘WOW’ moments for me! And Seamie Heffernan is a plus for So You Think too, he knows the horse better than say Fallon or Spencer and doesn’t get the rides he should imo. And we can’t discount Snow Fairy either.
As you say Nathan, it should be a cracker!
July 2, 2011 at 10:03 #363170I wasn’t going to have another bet on Workforce today as I thought the 2/1 had gone but Ladbrokes sticking their necks out is to rude to turn down.
Coral Eclispe – WORKFORCE 2/1 £10.00 win
Blackbeard to conquer the World
July 2, 2011 at 15:37 #363265I thought Workforce had done enough as I did not expected SYT to stay on well enough at Sandowns uphill finish but he proved me wrong and done it quite nicely in the end. Ground was also slightly against Workforce today so he ran a credit in defeat and will be a handful for anyone over 12f.
Running total incl unsettled bets –
+£14.50

July 3, 2011 at 10:05 #363394Despite his defeat yesterday, Workforce put in a very solid effort in conditions not ideal. The King George would have to be a worry if the ground remains on the quick side and although I would not write him off completely for that race I feel it would be better waiting until the day or near to before having a bet on him.
The Arc is a different proposition however, Stoute has made it clear that is now the main aim and there is more chance of him getting conditions to suit at that time of the year, plenty of competition to worry about but as Kingfisher says keep the faith. Being one of the unlucky ones I have yet to be banned from VC so have dived into their disgusting pit of a site and took the 5’s.
Arc – WORKFORCE 5/1 £20.00 win
Side notes – So You Think has been notebooked for the breeders Cup if the ground is fast over there should have every chance after yesterday’s win.

July 13, 2011 at 22:17 #364614I’m still cross with myself for not getting on Dick Turpin last Saturday, 2/1 aswell was a great price. Napped him in Bob’s 4pp comp but never got around to backing him as the DIY at home took over……

I noticed this evening William Hill have a few specials for the Sussex and the one that took my eye was the who is going to start favourite with both the big guns 11/10, same price 6/1. I’ve had a feeling Frankel will start fav for this from day 1 and it’s one of the reasons I’ve held back on betting on Canford because I feel he’ll be a bigger price on the day with the public’s money going on Frankel who I think he will start about 4/6 and they ain’t both going to be odds-ons. I’ve enrolled a tenner on that happening.
Who will start Fav in Sussex – FRANKEL 11/10 £10.00

Now looks near enough with seemingly all the forum getting on, don’t want all that 4/1 disappearing so will risk a fiver at this stage with the risk being I don’t trust those weather woman
King George – WORKFORCE 4/1 £5.00 win

July 16, 2011 at 21:12 #364900Well the rain has come out to play today and with that the price of Workforce is shortening everywhere. I would have liked to wait a little longer but it’s just Hills with the 4’s left so I’ve had a bit more on because if the ground is favourable next week there is no way the best 12f horse on the planet will be going off at such a price.

July 24, 2011 at 09:10 #365614A bit dejected this morning after the way the King George turned out. Very sad at the demise of Rewilding, looked terrible. . As for the race itself, well a non existent early pace was never going to help the selection Workforce, why no Confront? I agree with Reet Hards comments on the big race discussion that those tactics were employed to unsettled the others. I also reckon they must of thought if they can crawl for a couple of furlongs then go the race will effectively be a 10f race the dist in which Rewilding had beat SYT at Royal Ascot and Workforce had been beat by the same horse in the Eclipse which could play to their benefit. Well done Nathaniel all the same. Workforce didn’t have things go his way last year in the race and we didn’t see him again after until the Arc and I expect that will be the same time we see him again this year, a better allround pace will see a better Workforce come October.
I’ve got a few bets lined up for Goodwood and one for Galway.
Watch this space.

July 24, 2011 at 22:23 #365694I’ve got a few bets lined up for Goodwood and one for Galway.
Did I type Galway, forget that, must have had something a bit strong for breakfast, just had another look at the card and far too many runners and competitiveness for my liking………
No, just a few at Goodwood near the end of the week. Really like Harbour Watch must be the jockey’s silks, seen them somewhere before. Hannon’s record with 2 year olds speaks for itself and watching reruns of this ones previous runs have really caught the eye. Dickie Hughes is sweet on his chances and considering Eureka has also an entry for the Richmond after his efforts over 5f and will be better over further suggests this one is good. Will have to keep an eye out though as I believe he has an entry elsewhere on the card earlier in the week. Knowing my luck he will be odds on.
Also on the Friday Dever Dream has been entered in the same race as Memory. This horse has been a bit unlucky this season and is due a win. I think she will relish the track, she handled Newmarket’s undulations well and although usually has been running on galloping tracks the run of hers which impressed me was at Warwicks sharper track when running 3rd to Seta. I think she has a big win in her, will need quickish conditions.
So looking forward to the Sussex. Hope Canford does himself justice I’m sure Hannon will have him spot on as per usual. I’ve not got the same confidence as I had about Canford when beating Goldikova as I knew he was a better horse than Paco Boy who had ran the mare close. I think he can win at either a fast early pace or slow one but Frankel will surely be given a better ride than the one he was given at Ascot and the weight allowance is also off putting. I’m happy with my tenner on Frankel to start fav, wish I had put more on, that covers my ten on Canford if he does start fav. Will wait for the morning to see if Canford is a better/bigger price whick I think he will be before maybe having a bit more on.

July 27, 2011 at 07:59 #365948Burwaaz finishing 2nd in the Molcombe gives a bit of a boost to the form of Harbour Watch. Not that he needs it…….
I’m a bag of nerves in antiapation for this afternoons race. I’ve decided not to go back in on Canford although I think he will win. This race is so much more important than winning or losing a few pound. I’ll still be sulking if he gets turned over at 3.10 or still be bragging and basking in the glory if Canford confirms his status in my mind as the number 1 miler.

July 28, 2011 at 22:25 #366274Looks like my horse of the year bet is all but over. Hats off to Frankel, was in a league of his own yesterday.
Harbour Watch was down as my nap of the meeting, Hannon and Hughes both think alot of him and you cant but be impressed visually by his two runnings to date. Backing 8/11 2 year olds isn’t the best idea in the world so I’m only going in a tenner as although I cant see him being beat I’ve been wrong before….
The ground looks to be coming good for Dever Dream and if she takes a liking to the course I can she her going well, hope she has better luck in-running than earlier in the season.
I’ve gone for Midday in the Nassau on Saturday. 3/1 look a fair price to reverse form with fav Misty For Me. She was 1/3 to win the Pretty Polly but didn’t run her race. Has a couple of wins already at the track which is an unknown for Misty who has run her best races at the Curragh.
Richmond – HARBOUR WATCH 8/11 £10 win bog
Oak Tree – DEVER DREAM 9/1 £6 win bog
Nassau – MIDDAY 3/1 £10 win
