Flat season under way, thought I’d add a thread as RIP FLAT racing is just a stones throw away apparently

I’m on Henry Longfellow at 5/2 for the French Guineas but as that is no longer available I’ve put 2/1 for thread purposes. City of Troy bombing out is a bit of a concern but Henry’s pedigree looks more straightforward and if Aidan has him ready another worry he’d be the one to beat

Rosallion didn’t get his prep before the guineas and the going wasn’t ideal but still ran a blinder
could close the gap on the guineas winner now has had a run and the bend should suit him aswell. Looks to be going to the Curragh next and when winning there the 5/1 for Ascot will be gone

5/1 Rosallion – St James Palace stakes £10.00
    2/1 Henry Longfellow – French Guineas £10.00

    -£20.00

I want to take the O’Brien runner on as his aren’t flying first time out as much as they normally are. Hidden Law is drawn well here and improved enough from debut run next time out to reverse the placings with his conqueror that day

    12/5 Hidden Law – Chester Vase £5.00

    Hidden Law RIP… :-(
    returned £32.00

Dee Stakes is an interesting contest and wide open.. I’ve landed on Bracken’s Laugh. He is definitely speedy enough for Chester and the distance won’t be a problem either being so tight, as long as he handles the turns being a big horse he’ll be in with a shout
Capulet will be better today, Aidan’s have needed the run first time out and the going will suit him. He’d be my second choice but he has a big distance to make up on Bracken’s Laugh. The two favourites God’s Window and Jayarebe both have a chance but both short enough now.

    9/2 Bracken’s Laugh – Dee Stakes £5.00

I was expecting Witch Hunter to be nearer 2/1 than the current 5’s the only thing that will stop him is if they go a crawl. Looks unlikely but not impossible, even if they do I’d expect Levey to be switched on to it

    5/1 Witch Hunter – 3.50 Haydock £10.00

I’ll take a chance on Igor Stravinsky at the odds in the 3 y/o maiden… The money is for Apricot Ice 7/4 first thing into evens but after a promising debut she went backwards next time out. Finished where she should have done on reappearance this year but the winner that day doesn’t look up to much.
Igor Stravinsky didn’t race as a 2 y/o which could be considered strange for a No Nay Never, the dam is a daughter of Galileo though. Also wore blinkers on debut so could be backward or not straightforward but despite a little head movement in the early stages of his debut and hitting the front early you could have forgiven him if he pulled but he soon calmed and traveled sweet, not green at all and only got dicked late on, on the line after seeing off an initial challenge. Looked speedy enough to suggest the heavy going may have just blunted him slightly and better going today should suit. Touched 9/4 and went off 15/8 so was a little fancied to do well. That race was last month and Aidan’s have come on for a run. With the winner that day had the experience of a previous run the month before. Times of the races would go to Apricot Ice but the going differences and potential improvement would even that out somewhat
For me on paper Igor Stravinsky looks the pick but the drift from 11/10 to 9/4 is concern so only a small play

    9/4 Igor Stravinsky – 13:15 Leopardstown 3 y/o maiden £5.00

    -£25.00

    Igor, Igor, Igor
Looks a future stallion with what he had dangling between his legs around the parade ring
    I enjoyed that
…. The race that is not the parade ring. :rose:

    Igor returned £16.25

I dodged a bullet with One Look. Wasn’t impressed with her return when winning at 1/20 so decided just to watch today. You can see why they didn’t turn up at Newmarket

Kailasa made her debut in the same race as Igor Stravinsky. Looked green enough early but able to hold her position throughout the race and finished strong and in close enough proximity to think she can land this easier looking contest with a bit of improvement for the experience

    11/8 Kailasa – 14:35 Limerick £10.00

    -£18.75

I’m not convinced this horse needs soft. It is a bit of a question mark but at the price is worth a shot

Zilzal… It didn’t. She got caught in a pocket and was a bit late in challenging but the market told a story and played out to it. She wouldn’t have caught the winner on any going today.

Ran well on seasonal reappearence possibly with this in mind as the main target. Some of the others have bigger targets to go for and Al Qareem could try and steal it from the front.

    8/1 Al Qareem – Yorkshire Cup £4.25

    -£32.00
