Looks like the weather won’t have a say in this. I was surprised to find the home side favourites in this. I have their batting slightly ahead of the visitors, but their bowling significantly worse. I think it hinges on Salisbury. His 50 over record is actually pretty good and if they play him, it gives them a better chance. But given they already have Botha in the side, they may go with the seamer Anyon instead, in which case Leicester’s reasonable advantage becomes a big one. They are packed with Kolpack players and don’t at first glance look star-studded, but they are a tough team, well motivated and with a good spirit. I can see them turning Warks over tomorrow and have backed them at 2.12.

May 5, 2008 at 20:50 #161808Indeed, I think this basically became a Twenty20 game, at which Leicester are adept. Poor effort from the home side and the selection of Anyon ahead of Salisbury was a mistake (unless Salisbury was injured) He might be the wrong side of 35 but his one day stats are far superior. Certain lack of imagination from the Bears today.
Still you’ll never lose money backing Warwickshire to let their fans down. A bit like Wolves really, though not quite so funny.
May 5, 2008 at 21:00 #161813I miss calculated the overs, im going to blame the forum clock

Glamorgan now Leicester your on a roll Andrew.

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
May 5, 2008 at 21:05 #161816You’d be amazed what you can blame on the forum clock. I was late picking my wife up from work the other day and put it down entirely to Cormack’s wonky timepiece.
I don’t usually have the time to bet on county cricket as there is so much of it but I’ve got more time on my hands this year. And my temperament is such I prefer the higher strike rates you get in two/three horse races to the long losing runs inherent in backing the horses.
May 5, 2008 at 21:12 #161819Yeah good call again mate.
I agree, that if you’ve the time and the effort to put in you’ve as much chance to make a few quid in three horse races like this than on the horses.
The only things going against you really is the very unpredictable English weather (which very nearly caught you out today) and the odd big shock. See Lancashire v Scotland today for that.
May 5, 2008 at 21:24 #161823The weather is a constant problem. It’s hard enough to factor in the odds on the draw without having the rug pulled from under your feet by the unpredictable climate. The BBC website last night had a big fat yellow sun for Birmingham but it rained all morning here and presumably in the second city as well.
Lancashire v Scotland wasn’t a game I looked at – though I guess for that one you could say Scotland have form!
Blows the North division wide open (again!) I thought this would be a tough group to get out of but Derby and Scotland were not figuring in my calculations.
Nice win for Yorkshire today.
