You cannot be seriously putting William Buick and Jamie Spencer in the same sentence/comparable as VP. Having watched the race replay, if stewards call that a false step then they need to go to ‘Specsavers’ she fell off. Lets see what happens when a horse stumbles/false step/takes off outside the rails (endless scenario’s) over a fence and she gets the entire field over her, she can’t ride to this level and will not achieve this level. She might make a nice little charity rider, that is still a very good achievement. Continuing this ‘switching saddles’ publicity stunt is foolish.
October 25, 2015 at 10:58 #1218929Why did Satanic Beat leave Jedd’s? I met him when we went to Middleham [the horse, that is; not the trainer].
October 25, 2015 at 11:27 #1218931Moe,
He was offered at Doncaster Sales at the beginning of September and changed hands for £22,000.
October 25, 2015 at 12:36 #1218949How could they do that
He’d been at Jedd’s for years. There were all little baby coots wandering in and out of his stable…October 25, 2015 at 16:52 #1219009I think her advisers – not least John Maxse who’s fairly experienced riding thoroughbreds – will be thinking hard over the weekend. Aside from the fitness and hunger to learn and steely approach of a pro athlete, you need the aptitude, and it’s beginning to look like she doesn’t have it and won’t develop it. Every public ride now will be under even more scrutiny, causing strung-out nerves, which the horse will pick up.
The BHA too ought to be doing some thinking. If VP is willing to endanger herself, she’s not entitled to do so to fellow jockeys.
