First trip to Auteuil next month too and hoping for a favourable review from a friend who’s gone to this years Velka with his Czech girlfriend – the joys of free accomodation
October 12, 2008 at 15:43 #184422just an update – does anyone know if this is being shown on any of the racing channels this year?
thanks

Sorry Rory, think we posted about the same time – didn’t see the post above mine
October 12, 2008 at 23:21 #184494Just seen it on the Czech tv site.
Sixteen looks decent enough, hope Edward Gillespie can persuad connections to come and have a spin at Cheltenham.
Love Cross Country races, something special about them, maybe Kauto and Denman can have a try one day.

Which link did you use Neil? I’ve tried five, and none of them are working.
Anyway, if anyone can get hold of Ferdy Murphy, they need to tell him that Ivoire de Beaulieu has been disqualified, as apparently, he’s completely unaware of it (as, it seems, are the British media!!!)

Having finished 6th, not too disturbed by it but Keith a bit fed up.October 13, 2008 at 02:07 #184534Of course he knows…the chat with the stewards after the race made him fully aware!
Well, looking at the articles in the Racing Post and Sporting Life, no-one seems to know about it!! Quote from the Racing Post:
Ferdy Murphy’s Ivoire De Beaulieu fared best of the two British challengers in finishing sixth. Murphy said: "He started to feel the pinch at the third-last but in some ways I blame myself for bringing him back off a break."
Just surprised they didn’t mention it there really, but I guess in all the confusion etc it got missed. From what I understand, some people didn’t even realise Amant Gris had been disqualified – although having two greys with similar colours in the first two places could have been a bit confusing!

October 13, 2008 at 02:42 #184541Probably trying to report from a desk in Wapping rather from on the course!

Good point David!!! I missed that one!!
Looking at the article, it does say ‘by Racing Post staff’, so no-one’s taking the blame by name so it seems!!
On a personal note, I did note that Ferdy Murphy mentioned in the same interview (so it may or may not be correct!!!) that if he goes back to Pardubice next year, it would possibly be with Lucky Nellerie, which, if I remember correctly, is one of your horses, so if you do, best of luck – I hope to be there myself next year (depends if I’m required somewhere in Germany really), and it would be fantastic to see someone like Ferdy, who really seems to support these kind of races, take the prize for Britain!
