June 13, 2024 at 11:00 #1697732I found a free bet in my Betfair account. Joined BigG by putting it on Hovland.
I still wonder about him when it really comes to the crunch but the ability is obviously there. He has to get it over the line in a Major eventually, doesn’t he?
June 16, 2024 at 15:36 #1698089Finau triple bogey yesterday was a sickener. Want him and Morikawa win/top 20 with Luke Clanton top amateur. Also had Scheffler but that slip’s in the bin.
June 16, 2024 at 17:34 #1698103Took Bryson 7-1 after first day; tempted to go again at 8/11
June 17, 2024 at 00:24 #1698126A great final round. Pleased for DeChambeau but there is no getting away from the fact that McIlroy blew it.
June 17, 2024 at 01:43 #1698129That was painful to watch
June 17, 2024 at 07:18 #1698132It is a massive shame for McIlroy but at this stage you do have to wonder if he’ll ever win another Major. He’s obviously got the game to prove me wrong and I hope he does.
June 17, 2024 at 08:09 #1698135DeChambeau deserves a lot of credit. He didn’t have his A game on Sunday but he ground it out. The bunker shot and putt on the 18th were superb.
It will hurt McIlroy because for 13 holes he played well. He was four under for the round and 2 shots clear.
Then it all seemed to unravel. A poor tee shot on 14th but made par; wrong club on 15th and gave himself no chance; inexplicable missed putt on 16th; poor tee shot on 17th; wrong club on 18th and a poor putt you could see coming.
I don’t see how Laura Davies can say McIlroy’s loss was not down to bad golf. Missing two putts of four feet or less in the last three holes is not good, no matter how hard you try to spin it.
Given how vocal McIlroy has been about the PGA Tour, it probably hurt even more to lose to a LIV player. Apparently he left without congratulating DeChambeau, which doesn’t reflect well on him if true. I don’t suppose having to play the final round with Cantlay and his caddy put him in a good mood either!
