Have just called in a bet on Pistolet Noir. Will take him and Westlin Winds against the field. Think he looks a nice type for this but think he really needs gd-sft. may shorten before the time and happy with Ladbrokes 33-1. Hope Nicholls runs him.
March 4, 2010 at 16:12 #280405A poor effort for Pisolet Noir fans.
I’ve not got a clue as to what wins this now. I had fancy prices on Mille Chief, which has bitten me on the backside really.
Will probably have a speculative effort on Advisor – Nicholls rates him quite highly (although the rest of his juveniles look pretty poor, i’m not sure what he’s basing this on).
It does look an average race this year, although you never know.
March 4, 2010 at 16:34 #280409Race to watch in my opinion this one now Mille Chief is out.
March 4, 2010 at 17:17 #280416Advisor still seems a big price to me given he is in the right sort of rating range for an ex flat horse, he has won two decent and appropriate races and his peerless trainer has nothing but positive comments on him.
Seems very likely to appreciate the New Course.March 4, 2010 at 20:11 #280455Guys, do you think there is any chance EWilliams will run Barizan in the Triumph? Think he could run a big race at a big price (currently 40s). Decent enough flat form, won at the track. Beaten by Pistolet lto but ground very much against. I see hes entered in the FWinter also
March 5, 2010 at 09:58 #280531What do people make of the recent flood of money on Henderson’s Super Kenny to win the Triumph on hurdling debut. Looks a nice sort on pedigree and flat form (reckon I’d prefer him in the supreme or the fred winter though) and Henderson can turn one out in good shape first time out but 14-1 best price on a horse who’s never been seen hurdling, seems to have had more money the last few days than henderson’s adonis winner soldatino, and by recollection Super Kenny was also entered in that race and withdrawn at the final decs… Its a strange one I think.

Super Kenny runs at Doncaster today, Bulwark.

He had an engagement at Newbury but has been withdrawn.

I really should wait until I’ve woken up properly before looking through the day’s racing!
March 6, 2010 at 00:39 #280764Backed Carlito Brigante but not confident. Poor race
March 6, 2010 at 10:01 #280789Just reading another preview report in today’s Post. Why is it so difficult for Pipe to confirm what is happening with Notus De La Tour? I can’t imagine why JP doesn’t have horses with him – they would be a match made in heaven.
March 8, 2010 at 20:13 #281232Hopefully, the fact Notus De La Tour has not been entered in the Imperial Cup should mean he appears in the Triumph rather than the Fred Winter. There is no need to look for an easier option to obtain a bonus. The Ranjobaie/Bygones Of Brid formline looks as good as anything.
March 8, 2010 at 20:35 #281238Had £20 on Advisor at 16s a couple of weeks ago – Nicholls has been quite bullish about this horse for a number of weeks now.
March 8, 2010 at 21:04 #281246Alaivan probably boasts the best form but is not bombproof as proved two outings ago..was the best on the flat of all the runners however. Maybe Me Voici is a lively outsider, who hasn’t done much wrong so far although has shown a liking for soft ground. As Im going on the Friday and this is the first race, will want to start off well!
March 8, 2010 at 21:42 #281254Like Carlito Brigante who i think will relish the Cheltenham track in a similiar way to Katchit and see him being the one to beat. Both at best mediocre (well Carlito plainly awful) on the flat but both come alive when hurdling and see him really powring up the hill. Some people knocking the win over Ultimate but can only beat whats put against him and cant have much better form than stuffing Alaivan if he was a Mullins or a Nicholls horse would be 3s. Also like the lack of noise from Elliot which i am hoping is quiet confidence and not no confidence or maybe
March 8, 2010 at 23:48 #281277They said on CH 4 after Me Voici’s win that connections weren’t certain to run him at Cheltenham as they thought too much of him as a future chaser. Hope they do because I backed him at 33/1 but I love this horse and can’t wait to see him jump a fence.
March 9, 2010 at 00:40 #281280I haven’t got an opinion on the Triumph, but I did see Pistolet Noir run moderately last time.
Interestingly, he is quoted at 25/1 for the Imperial cup on Sat.
When I saw his defeat last time out (2m 4f?) I wasn’t sure if he may want further.
Guess his trainer thinks a fast run 2 miles is what he needs.
