With the news that Cue Card is out of the festival, Lee and Peter, feel free to change your selections.

Neptune – Racing Pulse 1pt EW Stan James 66/1
February 27, 2014 at 12:01 #469366Damn Segal went for my antepost choice of Royal Boy so i might have an each way on something else.
Henderson seems likely to leave some talented horses at home during the week ( Beat That, Vaniteux apparently might not go ) and also appears uncertain about Cup Final. AP was quieter than normal on him behind Irving the other day. Beautifully bred, improving, needs further than 2 miles…can see him cropping running very well in the next 6 weeks at a decent price.Stuff it – Royal Boy 2pts win @ 8-1
Couldn’t agree more with you Mark on the running of Cup Final. I think this looks like a very decent animal, I wrote quite a bit about him on the Dovecote race thread before and after the race. I will definitely be watching to see where he is going and try to catch some value. He is still enetered in the Supreme Novices, best priced 66/1 and the Neptune Novices, generally 50/1. He might not go to Cheltenham, but with some bookies offering NRNB, I’m having some safe money on him for both.
VTC, it’s ridiculous I hadn’t noticed you were running a thread on a Cheltenham stable competition, had my blinkers on in the "Big Races-Discussion" thread ….I’ve clearly missed the boat here
I’ll watch for it next year and enter my hopefuls, if you are thinking of running it again.February 27, 2014 at 14:11 #469391VTC, it’s ridiculous I hadn’t noticed you were running a thread on a Cheltenham stable competition, had my blinkers on in the "Big Races-Discussion" thread ….I’ve clearly missed the boat here
I’ll watch for it next year and enter my hopefuls, if you are thinking of running it again.G, I’ve only closed the entries cause I didn’t want to hack off any of the others who’d been in from the start, and now have a spate of non runners (like myself
)…….obviously joining up just now gives an edge, but to be honest I don’t know the feelings of others to late entrants
I’ve no problem with it myself. I think next year, I’ll put in a cut off, maybe around race 4 or 5…….but I’m sure to be doing it again. On a separate note, did you know there’s a Cheltenham Preview Night in Hamilton next week?
That’s no problem VTC, I could understand those that have laid out their chances, and lost some along the way, being a bit p****d off if someone came in with the advantage of picking from reduced fields, I would be the same so I’ll just get my act together in better time next year.
I know about the Hamilton Preview night in the County Buildings, the list of those attending is impressive. I would have loved to go, but for 2 weeks, believe it or not, I’m dog sitting in Dunoon whilst my sister is off on holiday. A retriever that needs lots of walking and a psycho jack russell that would have your gonads off in a minute, especially if you happen to be a postman. Anyway it’s a lovely big house overlooking the water so it’s not such a hard task for a couple of weeks.
Congratulations on taking on a task like this, I can see you have got it well organised.
February 27, 2014 at 14:59 #469397BigG; you could still do a mini thread saying which one’s you would have chosen; I’m in the same boat [sort of] having been totally disorganised and not even knowing which horses are running [we could have a competition
]February 27, 2014 at 15:32 #469400VTC – Pricewise has gone for Royal Boy. You probably know, just not been updated.
And you have my Neptune selection in the Triumph.
February 27, 2014 at 20:02 #469420Triumph – Activial 2pts @ 12-1
February 27, 2014 at 21:49 #469435I’m afraid i’m stalling on the Triumph and Neptune because Mullins won’t decide where he wants to run Briar Hill!

But for the Gold Cup i’ll go…
Captain Chris 1 pt e/w at 16/1 (BetVictor)

I’ve heard from a fella who knows a fella who’s nephew works in Mullins’ yard and he says Briar Hill is almost certain to go in the Bartlett…
NRNB advised though

Willie-wont-ee Mulins, what a pain in the ass that man can be for Ante-Posters!
February 27, 2014 at 22:10 #469443I’ve been fortunate enough to come out the right side of any U-turns and have got him right in the past couple of seasons but one of these days I’ll surely get stung. My fingers are crossed because I’ve Faugheen, Ballycasey, Vautour and Felix Yonger at nice prices this year. I do think you an work it out to a certain degree with a bit of study, in most cases. I do fear the Briar Hill / Faugheen switcheroo though

Sounds like you’ve done well this year THM! Would be incredibly surprised if he switched Faugheen/Briar Hill now so I’d sit quietly confident if I were you!
February 27, 2014 at 22:25 #469451Nah, no need to worry, Faugheen – Neptune, Briar Hill – Albert Bartlett.
Briar Hill won’t beat King’s Palace though.

If Kings Palace goes off in front, as seems likely, I’d really fancy Briar Hill to beat him. The best way to get Briar Hill beaten is probably to try come from behind, fast and late. I think Kings Palace is just going to be a target to pull Briar Hill into the race.
