Following the news that Totesport are not running their “Ten To Follow” for the 2014-15 Jumps season, I’ll run one on here if anyone’s up for it.
Sadly, there won’t be a six figure payout for anyone, but [b:2c745swk]Cavelino Rampante[/b:2c745swk] is offering up £200 in prize money if there’s enough interest……….that’ll do for me, I’m in anyway.
I’ll try and keep the rules as close to those used by The Tote, but as it’s the first time it’s been done on here, I’ll be open to any suggestions, or any objections to some of the rules which I suggest. I was hoping to run it from the 1st of November, so it can take in The Charlie Hall Chase, and the Jnwine Chase, and run it to the conclusion of The Punchestown Festival, which gives the opportunity to score points in big races, which the Tote competition didn’t include.
I’ve added a few races to the bonus races, but also considered the following……..
Fighting Fifth
Becher Chase
Greatwood Hurdle
Long Walk Hurdle
The Ladbroke
Skybet Chase
Argento Chase
Cleeve Hurdle
Boylesports Hurdle
“Racing Post” Chase
Imperial Hurdle
Midlands Grand National
Topham Trophy
Punchestown Champion Hurdle…..if anybody wants these any of these races, or all of them, added, please let me know. It won’t take much persuasion to add them.
[b:2c745swk]Rules[/b:2c745swk]
1. Pick 10 horses to follow throughout this jump season, during the period from Saturday 1st November 2014, to Saturday 2nd May 2015.2. Entries will be closed at 1200 on 1st November.
3. Results will only count from Jump Races in Great Britain, and Ireland.
4. The Winner will receive £150, and there will be a runners up prize of £50.
5. In the Event of a dead heat, points will be divided.
6. No points for a walkover
7. Pick any 10 horses of your choice.
8. Winning points will be taken from RP Website.
9. In the event of a tie, the entry with most points from Bonus Races will be decided. If still tied, then highest scorer at Cheltenham will be the winner. If still undecided then those with most points from +£30k races will win……and so on. If a winner has still to be decided, then those with the biggest return for one race will get the prize, or those with the most 100 point scores, in the event of multiple 100 point winners. If still tied, then I don’t know, just have a fight or something.
10. Entrants can amend their lists if a horse is injured[b:2c745swk]*[/color:2c745swk][/b:2c745swk], up to 1159 on Saturday 1st November.
[b:2c745swk]*[/color:2c745swk][/b:2c745swk]injured will refer to a physical injury, or of course a fatality. This will not include horses who are rested, or on the sidelines, due to being “under the weather”, “not pleasing during workouts”, “bad scopes” etc
[b:2c745swk]Scoring[/b:2c745swk]
1.IN A RACE WORTH £30,000 OR MORE TO THE WINNER = 25 points
IN A RACE WORTH £25,000 UP TO £29,999 TO THE WINNER = 20
IN A RACE WORTH £15,000 UP TO £24,999 TO THE WINNER = 15
IN A RACE WORTH £10,000 UP TO £14,999 TO THE WINNER = 12
IN A RACE WORTH LESS THAN £10,000 TO THE WINNER = 10I’ll take the prize money from The Racing Post website, which would save me from converting Euros to Pounds for Irish races.
2. Tote dividend points will be awarded according to the official totewin and toteplace dividend odds – including a £1 unit stake – as follows:
Win dividend – straight conversion from £’s to points. For example for a £9.40 win dividend the horse is awarded 9.40 points, £15.30 is awarded 15.30 points etc. Horses finishing first will not receive the place dividend.
Horses that finished placed will only receive the toteplace dividend points (unless finishing second in the bonus races). This will be on the same criteria as above – i.e. £7.20 equates to 7.20 points.
3. Maximum a horse can win on any one race is 100 points.
4. Entrants can nominate a Star Horse, which will give them double points.
5. An additional 25 points will be awarded to the winner and 12 points to the runner-up in each of the following races:
CHARLIE HALL CHASE
JNWine Chase
PADDY POWER GOLD CUP
HENNESSY GOLD CUP CHASE
DECEMBER GOLD CUP
INTERNATIONAL HURDLE
KING GEORGE VI CHASE
WELSH GRAND NATIONAL
LEXUS CHASE
IRISH CHAMPION HURDLE
IRISH HENNESSY GOLD CUP
BETFAIR HURDLE
ARKLE
CHAMPION HURDLE
QUEEN MOTHER CHAMPION CHASE
RSA CHASE
WORLD HURDLE
RYANAIR CHASE
CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP
BETFRED BOWL
AINTREE HURDLE
GRAND NATIONAL
SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL
IRISH GRAND NATIONAL
Bet365 GOLD CUP
PUNCHESTOWN GOLD CUP6. An additional 12 points will be awarded to the winner and 6 points to the runner-up in any other race at The Cheltenham Festival.
As I said, please let me know, if there’s anything you want to add, or anything you want me to change.
Hopefully, a few of us will take up the very generous prize from Cav, and it should give a bit of interest during the winter.
October 15, 2014 at 10:44 #492391Great news this is, VTC. I’m very disappointed with the decision by Totesport not to run the NH Ten To Follow – that it’s not viable doesn’t sound right.
I’m also fully behind adding the suggested races to the bonus list.
And many thanks to Cavelino for the prize fund

October 15, 2014 at 18:35 #492412Could we bring back the opportunity to substitute 2 horses in February or would that make it too complicated.
October 15, 2014 at 21:15 #492424Two weeks as I recall.
October 15, 2014 at 22:08 #492427Have you not put up the list of all the horses in training yet VtC?

October 16, 2014 at 08:50 #492456I’ll have a bash at this. Not much is cooking at work today, so I may as well be productive and make something of the day.
Thanks to all organising, and I echo the thoughts of those who say to include as many bonus races as possible.

October 19, 2014 at 11:47 #492869This is sort of disappointing, only 4 entries so far and Cavelino Rampante has offered £200 if we get enough entries.
Assuming both Cave and Venture join in that’s only six.
I’d expected much more.
Venture just as an example yesterday Tiger Roll won for me so that if in play would have won me 15 points for the race being worth £18K
Plus 2.40 for his tote being £2.40
Making a total of 20.40 points.
October 19, 2014 at 12:11 #492873I’ll take The New One as well, and I’ll make him my star horse. English two mile hurdlers are non existent now, and he’ll mop up everything this side of the Irish Sea prior to Cheltenham.
