Unless I’ve missed it, looks like another season without The Ten To Follow, so as last season, I’d be up for running one on here
Here’s a reminder of last years;
There’ll be a couple of minor rule changes probably, and a change with The Bonus Races, but thought I’d get the ball rolling, and give people plenty of notice.
I’ll put up the rules in a week or 2, but it’ll be scheduled to start on Charlie Hall weekend.
Any issues with last years rules, or recommendations for this year gladly welcomed.
September 29, 2015 at 16:35 #1209051I’d like to donate £20 to the prize fund this year Vtc, a small thank you to yourself and the forum.

October 3, 2015 at 19:32 #1212056I’d like to donate £20 to the prize fund this year Vtc, a small thank you to yourself and the forum.
Where do we donate to, if we want to, and how ?
Don’t have a paypal account.
Also felt like last year the was too many Bonus Races.
I think any Grade 1 races, plus the 4 main Nationals in each country should be the only BONUS RACES allowed, but if others think differently then happy to go along.

But you can give them to the birds and bees.October 4, 2015 at 10:04 #1213077That list looks fine to me, VTC, I think last year I was trying to be too clever by adding in a few dark horses.
Don’t know yet if I’m going to contribute to the prize, would like to.How much don’t know yet, or whom I pay it to.
Do I pay it to
yourself (as a trustee) or the forum, or to the winner of the competition.

October 8, 2015 at 15:37 #1216232Hi Bobby
I’m definitely going to enter and if I should win I would like my prize to go to

They do such great work travelling around the racecourses, I always remember making a great fuss of dear Monsignor he stood all day long helping to raise money for this worthy cause.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 8, 2015 at 16:08 #1216258I see Bob (VTC) is prepared yet again to put the effort into running a ’10 to follow’ comp and after last years hugely successful one I the legendary King of foresight feels its only appropriate that Bobs incredible efforts be supported.Anyone who has the rare talent/ability/knowledge of our sport to actually make it pay should feel obliged to contribute financially to this fantastic comp and thats why I’m nominating our very own Professional Gambler to dip his hand in his pocket.Very few have backed the amount of Horses this guy has (In a single race). He’s on Wikipedia as the only guy to have bet on every horse in the 2012 Grand National, that in itself sets him apart from the rest of us.This guy proudly tells us he’s won races with horses at 20/1 and yet his profit on the race pays 1/5 but the biggest thing that sets the forums Champion tipster from us mere mortals is his ability to fall out with his own shadow.I know Gingertipster,we would class each other as close friends so I am confident he will cough up with some dough from one of his many bank accounts.I sadly cant compete in the scattergun approach of betting but have saved enough 5p and 2p coins to put £200 in the kitty.I always support a worthy cause.

October 16, 2015 at 10:35 #12177292015/2016 TRF Ten to Follow Rules
1. Pick 10 horses to follow throughout this jump season, during the period from Saturday 31st October 2015, to Saturday 30th April 2016.
2. Entries will be closed at 1200 on Saturday 31st October 2015.
3. Results will only count from Jump Races in Great Britain, and Ireland.
4. The Winner, and Runner Up, will receive a cash prize. This final amount has yet to be confirmed, but I’ll confirm before the competition starts.
5. In the Event of a dead heat, points will be divided.
6. No points for a walkover
7. Pick any 10 horses of your choice.
8. Winning points will be taken from RP Website.
9. In the event of a tie, the entry with most points from Bonus Races will be decided. If still tied, then highest scorer at Cheltenham will be the winner. If still undecided then those with most points from +£30k races will win……and so on. If a winner has still to be decided, then those with the biggest return for one race will get the prize, or those with the most 100 point scores, in the event of multiple 100 point winners.
10. Entrants can amend their lists before the 31st October Deadline, if a horse is injured*, lame, sold overseas, or if connections publicly state the horse will be staying over the flat.
*injured will refer to a physical injury, or of course a fatality. This will not include horses who are rested, or on the sidelines, due to being “under the weather”, “not pleasing during workouts”, “bad scopes” etc
11. After the last race on Saturday 31st January 2016, a Transfer Window will run until 1200 on Saturday 13th February 2016. Entrants can change 2 horses over during this window, however, you will not be able to nominate a new star horse at this time.
Points

IN A RACE WORTH £10,000 UP TO £14,999 TO THE WINNER = 12
IN A RACE WORTH LESS THAN £10,000 TO THE WINNER = 10I’ll take the prize money from The Racing Post website, which would save me from converting Euros to Pounds for Irish races.
2.Tote dividend points will be awarded according to the official totewin including a £1 unit stake – as follows:
Win dividend – straight conversion from £’s to points. For example for a £9.40 win dividend the horse is awarded 9.40 points, £15.30 is awarded 15.30 points etc.
3. Maximum a horse can win on any one race is 100 points.
4. Entrants can nominate a Star Horse, which will give them double points.

October 16, 2015 at 12:15 #1217733You are a star for doing this again, VTC. Always lots of fun.
I’ll also chip in with something towards the prize fund / site.

Many many thanks for chipping in, very good of you
Now just to find one who’ll top your Many Clouds pick from last year.
October 16, 2015 at 19:26 #1217779Not going to happen !
anyone who surpasses my Many Clouds pick from last year will get an extra £10 and I will send it to VTC beforehand j

And many thanks to VTC for taking on the arduous task of administering this competition. I’m more than happy for VTC to hold the funds, probably easiest if one person does it. That OK with you VTC? -
