It’s the dawn of a new morning and day – after an emotional night for Chezza.
Sea Pigeon finally won the Champion Hurdle, The Fellow finally won the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Joe Biden finally became President of the USA (at something like the sixth attempt) but all of that pales into insignificance compared to Chezza finally beating Hughesey in a TRF poll.
Chezza’s been up all night ready to acknowledge messages of congratulation (but, err, hasn’t actually received any yet, must be internet outages all over the planet) and has eaten an entire packet of Fox’s Ginger Creams by way of celebration.
It may be that this is just a by-election/local council elections protest vote to send Hughesey a message some voters are dissatisfied with Hughesey’s frankly-nauseating record of affability, selflessness (a concept Chezza has never even begun to understand) and annoying wit (which Chezza cannot match).
But Chezza lives in hope this landslide victory by a superb margin (of, err, two) can be a springboard for a decisive triumph in “The Big One” at year end.
In the interim, Chezza has to find someone who will actually nominate Chezza – no easy task as Chezza has annoyed literally everyone on TRF at some point or another.
But Chezza likes a challenge!
Chezza loves the smell of a seven-five in the morning – it smells like….VICTORY!

I declined to vote in this tawdry run off as I was biased, in that, I would rather be beaten by you Gnats, and your finely honed artistic nibs, than the insatiable ever growing blob and his multi handed devil works – and this coloured my backwards reading of both sets of all your poems.
Chezza hopes Chezza can rely on your vote in the Final, gamble.
If (surely, “when!”) Chezza is adjudged the winner, Chezza plans to change the title “Poet Laureate” to “Poet Chezzaeate” so that future generations will have a chance to learn about and appreciate Chezza, the most misunderstood tortured genius of the 20th and 21st centuries.
